I was honored to be visited today by one of my patients from 17 years ago. Dr Lenzi is a retired dentist who had a non healing wound after surgery to remove his submandibular gland. He had biopsies and it was thought to be a bad infection of the jaw. I took him for deeper biopsies under anesthesia and he had squamous cell cancer. He underwent an extensive surgery (jaw bone resection, neck dissection, osteocutanius free flap reconstruction), post op chemo and radiation therapy. Not only did he beat that cancer but he also beat a leukemia (white blood cell cancer) 10 years after the original cancer. I am very blessed to have wonderful relationships that are life long with my patients!

Honored to be invited to speak at the National Sales Meeting for

I had the opportunity to discuss spinal accessory nerve protection during neck dissection — an evolving and critically important area in head and neck cancer surgery.

As we continue to advance oncologic care, preserving function and improving long-term quality of life for patients is just as important as removing disease.

Protecting the spinal accessory nerve can significantly impact shoulder strength, mobility, and overall recovery following neck dissection.

Progress in surgery isn’t only about what we remove — it’s also about what we preserve.

Grateful to contribute to conversations that move patient care forward.
