โฅ๏ธ๐ค๐ค๐๐FHR culminated Black History Month with a special presentation from our Admissions Coordinator, Christina, and her husband, Marcell as they presented an original skit on The Songs of the Underground Railroad. Written by her grandfather, Lawrence Hughes Jr, Marcell educated us and described the meaning and use of spirituals that led the path to freedom. As he provided the story telling, the songbird, Christina, sang the songs ๐ถโบ๏ธ
"Go Down Moses"
"Soon Ah Will be Done"
"Down by the Riverside"
"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot"
"I Couldn't Hear Nobody Pray"
"Over My Head I See Trouble in the Air" "Steal Away to Jesus", and
"So Glad I'm Here in Jesus Name."
We appreciate this dynamic duo sharing the story from her grandfather while walking us through a rich history of people with resilience, whit, bravery, strength, creativity, and perseverance. Happy Black History Month! ๐คโฅ๏ธ๐ค๐๐
