What is a Treatment Cohort?

We are excited to announce that we will begin to utilize a Treatment Cohort model here at Frequency Healing starting in February 2024!

A first time ketamine infusion series (6-8 session spread out over 2-3 weeks) is a BIG commitment! It can take time to coordinate, get required records from other providers, organize support and transportation. Ketamine therapy can also be overwhelming, so we are starting to schedule them as a monthly group to better support our clients. This allows you to plan for transportation, work time off, and have time to psychologically prepare for your infusions.

Additionally, for those interested in talking to others going through their first infusion series together, as well as more experienced ketamine clients, you will have the opportunity for two online, facilitated group support sessions during your infusion series. Because ketamine therapy is unlike anything you have experienced before, it can be beneficial to discuss your journey with others experiencing their own!

***Confidentiality is important to our clients, and is required by law. All support group participants will be asked to adhere to ethical guidelines and a confidentiality agreement.

We have had a number of people reach out about today’s headline regarding Matthew Perry’s tragic death and how ketamine may have been involved.

Fellow CRNA Nykol Rice, Founder, Director and CEO of Boise Ketamine Clinic, posted the following today (shared with her permission):

It’s never a good time to lose a friend. Matthew Perry’s death is a tragedy.

Since ketamine was involved in Matthew’s death we wanted to educate a little on what that means and how this kind of thing could happen.

1. The amount of ketamine in his system far exceeds dosing used in a clinic setting crossing over into anesthetic levels of ketamine.
2. Regardless of where he got the ketamine, either illegally or prescription lozenges, the amount found in his system indicates abuse of ketamine.
3. It’s a bad idea to combine any mind altering substance with bodies of water.
4. Many drugs are not safe for home use, ketamine is one of them. It should be administered by licensed clinicians in a regulated healthcare setting.

The FDA has put out two notices regarding home use ketamine this year. This is why as a practice we do not commonly prescribe home use ketamine. Studies done show that over 50% of home use ketamine scripts are misused.

Yes ketamine is generally incredibly safe when used in a clinic setting and it is stories like these that bring to light the critical importance of utilizing a ketamine clinic where your safety can be monitored by trained and licensed staff who can guide your dosing as well as intervene if needed. Illegal or home use ketamine is not worth the risk!

I was recently certified as a Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP) Provider. I saw the data, and understood the science, so wanted to experience the sound treatment for myself, not just offer it to patients. I’ve completed 4 of the 5 hours total of specially filtered music designed to stimulate my vagal nerve and WOW! Ketamine can feel frightening at times. Feeling safe is important.

Sometimes people can feel afraid during infusions. Set and setting are important factors but even when these are optimized, experienced clients who have been getting ketamine booster infusions for years can feel afraid at points during any infusion. When it happens, they may experience something like fear that a family member is in danger or that the client themself is unsafe.

Recently, a client asked if their breathing and heart rate were okay during their infusion. It was, but later I reminded them that even though everything was fine, if there was a problem, as an anesthesia provider accustomed to managing anesthetized patients during surgery, I am very capable of doing anything needed to keep them safe during their infusion.

You can rest assured that safety is a primary concern for our clients at Frequency Healing. That means safety in patient selection and during treatment as well as a prioritization of felt safety during all of our interactions with you.
