We've been getting a lot of calls about the winter weather. At this time we plan to open on schedule Monday morning subject to road conditions.
Safety is our number one priority - if you do not feel safe coming to your appointment Monday please contact our office to cancel and we will reschedule you.

Apparently United Healthcare just hasn't gotten the message that offices and patients are really tired of their shenanigans and now we have SYNAPSE!
UHC has hired a new company called SYNAPSE to "manage orders for DME (sensors and pump supplies)." THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ANY PRODUCTS. So patients (and offices) are being told existing supply orders are being voided out and new orders have to be sent to SYNAPSE and they will process the orders and THEN send them to an actual company who has products!
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!
We have now confirmed with 2-3 suppliers that they can process orders with Synapse. So we will NOT be sending orders to Synapse, we will be sending orders to knowledgable suppliers and letting them deal with Synapse for approvals.
As previously stated - if you have a choice of insurance DON'T CHOOSE UHC!

Since posting previously about difficulties with United Healthcare we have heard from other offices in the Shoals and surrounding areas having similar issues who have either already terminated contracts with UHC or are in the process of doing so. We have tried very hard to be reasonable with UHC - in the case of Medicare plans we're expecting them to follow Medicare guidelines and instead they expect us to accept 35% of Medicare for some billing codes! At this time I would recommend ANYONE with UHC coverage to consider changing to another provider. For our PEEHIP patients - PLEASE CALL your retirment coordinators AND COMPLAIN! We are not the only office experiencing these issues - just look at UAB, Huntsville Hospital, etc.

TLDR - we have NOT yet terminated UHC coverage but it is not looking positive.

In recognition of the 4th of July Holiday we will be closing at 3:00 pm on July 3rd and remain closed until Monday July 7th. We hope you and your families have a safe and happy 4th !

Similar to Huntsville Hospital and now UAB; we have had ongoing issues with UnitedHealthcare paying claims poorly. We have made a contract proposal to them but it's unlikely they will accept. If you are currently a patient here and have a UHC plan I would suggest calling them to express concern or consider shopping alternative plans as we may not remain in network with them if they maintain their current stance. As an example, they expect us to give them a large discount on their Medicare patients, and yet they provide no value or assistance to us. So I'm not sure why we should accept less than the Medicare standard rate "for the privilege" of working with them!
