So hard to get in from out of town and jump into a new week. We got to travel up to Michigan for the and got back home today.
(We do this a lot so I want to share some tips with you in hopes it makes things easier on you too!!)
So we got home about 4:45. Unpacked the car. Then I assigned jobs to the kids for unpacking suitcases, putting stuff away, someone had to watch the baby, someone else had to vacuum out the car, while the husband went to the gym, and I ran to Costco. đȘThis is what I grabbed.
đ±Veggies (celery, carrots, avocados, bell peppers, salad greens, sweet potatoes, & precut butternut squash)
To round out our meals and for snacks!
But also salad greens were to go with dinner tonight. đ
đFruit (bananas & pears)
đ„©Rotisserie chicken (easy dinner tomorrow) & salmon filet (tonightâs easy dinner)
đ„A few staples we needed milk, yogurt, sardines (that were on sale), nuts, and tortilla chips.
A few things I want to you to notice about my shopping cart.
1) Not everything is organic. đ€Ż
I know. Can you believe it? Truthfully, though I donât fret. The majority of the time we do the best we can to buy the dirty dozen organically. But we need to consider our budget and the fact that these people eat A LOT of food. Maybe someday this will improve. Maybe not.
2) The fish and chicken, not sustainably raised. đŁ
yep, but hereâs the thing. Between today driving and tomorrow being all over town and super busy these easy ingredients are going to save us from doing something like needing to go out to eat. The lesser of two evils is definitely buying the whole ingredients at the grocery store. These are also not things that will derail us and make us feel bad at the end of the day. So I chose to buy them anyway. 85% of the time we really well sourced meat. The rest of the time will be OK. đ
3) A lot is missing.
Yup, it is. I grabbed some things from Costco because theyâre a better price but I will get the rest in Kroger orders this the week.
