Even though cataracts are a natural part of aging, there’s no reason to live with them any longer than necessary. They won’t improve with time, as some patients believe. 👁️

The good news is that advancements in cataract surgery and the replacement lenses available (your natural lens must be removed and replaced during surgery) can be an opportunity in disguise—an opportunity that comes with a clearer outlook on life!

This February, during AMD Awareness Month, we’re highlighting how early detection can help slow progression, preserve functional vision, and support independence for years to come.

Our Story

Carolinas Centers for Sight, P.C. is the most technologically-advanced ophthalmology practice in the region and serves North and South Carolina residents. Carolinas Centers for Sight, P.C. has been providing medical/surgical ophthalmology services for nearly 30 years and has five offices for patient convenience. The Florence campus houses our clinic and ambulatory surgical facility, Florence Surgery and Laser Center (FSLC), LLC.

CCFS offers comprehensive medical/surgical care from a team of highly-skilled, Board-Certified surgeons. Our practice is the only one in South Carolina with the complete suite of Alcon laser cataract equipment. We perform bladeless laser-assisted cataract surgery using the LenSx® femto laser. This state-of-the-art laser allows our surgeons to provide a procedure that is completely customized for your eyes with unparalleled precision and accuracy.

LASIK, PRK and KAMRA® Inlay are offered using the most current laser equipment for optimal vision outcomes. Dr. Howard N. Greene has been performing LASIK and PRK surgeries since 1996. KAMRA® Inlay is a revolutionary new procedure that corrects near vision with an inlay that can be removed later in life when the patient develops cataracts. Free consultations for LASIK, PRK and KAMRA® Inlay are available so that patients can find out if they are candidates for these life-changing procedures.

Retina medical/surgical care is provided at our Florence office by our partners from Palmetto Retina Center, the leading retina practice in South Carolina. Retina care includes macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and hypertensive eye disease. On-going clinical trials are conducted on site.
