*Update*
Hello All! I’m checking in with an update of my progress. My recent Pet scan revealed the tumors in my colon and abdomen are shrinking, revealing the chemo is working. Also, the lesions on my liver have shrunken but not enough. We were hoping for the possibility of surgically removing the tumors but that is no longer an option. My surgeon has expressed that there is just too much disease in too many places to safely perform the surgery.
The next step is to consult with the radiology oncologist to explore whether or not direct radiation to my liver would extend time AND maintain my quality of life.
Late stage colorectal chemo is one of the harshest that exist and it has truly lived up to its reputation with me. This has been a rough journey. Chemo and radiology will prove to be even more challenging.
It was explained to me in layman’s terms that my particular cancer is very stubborn and would be resistant to life saving treatments such as immunotherapy. Therefore, I am not a candidate. Nevertheless, my doctors are being as creative as possible with my care.
I am continuing to fight for myself and my family. I’m exhausting all options, both traditional and non traditional. Thank you all for you continued love and support. ❤️
