Sometimes trauma does not show up in obvious ways.
It can show up in how we think, how we react to stress, and how we connect with other people. Many people carry the effects of past experiences without realizing why they feel constantly on edge, emotionally stuck, or guarded in relationships.
Some common signs can include:
• Feeling like you always have to stay alert
• Struggling to trust people
• Feeling overwhelmed by emotions
• Shutting down during conflict
• Feeling disconnected or numb
These responses are not personal weaknesses. They are often the mind’s way of trying to protect itself after difficult experiences.
The good news is that healing is possible. Therapy can help you understand these patterns, process past experiences, and build a greater sense of safety and stability.
