Today is - a reminder to know your risk and take early action!

Diabetes affects how the body processes blood sugar, but it also impacts circulation, nerve function, and the body’s ability to heal. Over time, high blood sugar can damage blood vessels and reduce sensation, especially in the feet, increasing the risk of ulcers and infections.

Early detection and proper management can help prevent serious complications. If you or a loved one has diabetes, regular foot checks and prompt wound evaluation are critical. Visit woundmsllc.com for more information.

Pressure injuries can develop quickly, especially for patients who spend long periods in bed or seated without repositioning. What often starts as mild redness can progress into serious tissue damage if pressure isn't relieved early.

Regular turning schedules, proper cushioning, and checking the skin for early warning signs are key steps in prevention.

As the weather warms up, activity levels tend to increase: more exercising, yard work, and other outdoor activities. While that’s great for overall health, it can also raise the risk of small cuts, blisters, pressure spots, or skin irritation that may develop into larger wound problems if unnoticed.

For patients with diabetes, circulation issues, or fragile skin, daily checks are especially important during this seasonal transition. Catching changes early helps prevent complications and keeps healing on track.

Infections are one of the most common reasons wounds stop healing or suddenly worsen. Increased redness, swelling, warmth, unusual drainage, or odor can signal that bacteria are interfering with the body’s ability to repair tissue.

If you notice changes like these, don’t wait. Early evaluation can prevent more serious complications and help keep healing on track.

Today is , so here’s your reminder that healing doesn't stop when you go to bed!

Quality sleep plays an important role in wound recovery. While you rest, the body works to repair tissue, regulate inflammation, and strengthen immune defenses that help prevent infection. Poor sleep, on the other hand, can slow these processes and make healing more difficult.

We're here to look at the full picture of recovery, because proper rest is a crucial part of the right treatment plan.

Chronic wounds affect millions of Americans each year, and many become serious simply because they aren't treated early enough.

When wounds are evaluated and treated by specialists sooner, patients are more likely to heal faster, avoid infections, and reduce the risk of hospitalization or long-term complications.

Our team has been busy this past week representing WMS at several events — including the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association Conference in Greensboro, NC, the AMG Leadership Conference in Galveston, TX, the Diabetapalooza Conference in Jackson, MS, and the Chamber of Wills Point, TX Health Fair.

We enjoyed connecting with healthcare leaders and community members while sharing how we partner with facilities and providers to deliver advanced wound care and help patients heal faster. 💚
