Depression in men often presents differently than traditional expectations. Instead of visible sadness, it frequently shows up as irritability, anger, frustration, or withdrawal, making it harder to recognize and diagnose.
Because many men are conditioned to avoid vulnerability, symptoms are often masked or expressed through behavior rather than emotion. This leads to underdiagnosis and delayed treatment, increasing the risk of severe mental health outcomes.
Recognizing these patterns is critical. Addressing male depression requires understanding how it manifests, not just how it is traditionally defined.
