Happy Halloween from Dr. Woo's Diabetes and Endocrine Institute! Dr. Woo is dressed as an Olympic Swimmer this year, but it is close to cheating. Dr. Woo is continuously challenging himself and is about to embark on an epic trip to Thailand to meet with a swim coach and endure some serious training. More to come!
A continuous glucose monitor (CGM) is a huge game changer if you are checking your finger. Not only do you get a read on your blood glucose level every 5 minutes, you have a history and can get a sense for where your number is heading. GAME CHANGER!
And, when a CGM "speaks" to an insulin pump, you can level up your game again.
A CGM is one of your fundamental tools in easing stress and dramatically improving results in managing your blood glucose numbers.

You see this coming, don't you?

At the Diabetes and Endocrine Institute, we focus on developing a complete treatment for our patients. Comprehensive treatment includes regular medical checkups, labs, medications, and technology, such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose meters, but does not stop there. Lifestyle and technology education is also a critical aspect to patients’ health and well-being.
The Diabetes and Endocrine Institute has regular classes, nutrition workshops, and seminars on topics from proper insulin pump usage, to lifestyle choices and impacts, to cooking demonstrations. During the holidays, special events are held to help patients navigate their way through family meals and even grocery shopping tips. Patients are encouraged to embrace healthy choices and the reason behind them. An educated patient will make better choices and enjoy a fuller, happier life with the impact those choices have on their daily life.
We call this comprehensive approach to living with Diabetes Woo Shui.
Diabetes is a manageable disease; however, it does take perseverance and regular monitoring. The endocrine system is a complex system that affects the whole body, and fluctuations happen. Being prepared with proper tools, education, mindset, and support makes all the difference.
If you are a new patient, we encourage you to take the time to ask any questions you might have, and that you choose to incorporate healthy practices into your daily life. We care about you as a patient and we are eager to see you succeed in recognizing and achieving your true potential for quality of living. We look forward to working through challenges and celebrating well-earned achievements with you.
