The School of Social Work at Jackson State University is pleased to formally welcome Mrs. Shameika A. Davis as Clinical Assistant Professor and Faculty Field Liaison for the BSW program!
Mrs. Davis brings a strong blend of clinical expertise, academic excellence, and student-centered practice to the School of Social Work. Her work is grounded in compassion, advocacy, and the belief that social workers are uniquely positioned to transform lives and communities.
Education:
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) – Jackson State University, 2012
Master of Social Work (MSW), Administrative Leadership – Texas State University–San Marcos, 2015
Specialist in Education (Ed.S.), Psychometry – Jackson State University, 2020
Mrs. Davis is deeply committed to integrating clinical practice and social work education. With experience supporting clients through vulnerable life moments, she brings that same empathy, insight, and strength-based approach into the classroom. As a faculty member and field liaison, she is passionate about helping students discover their voice, confidence, and professional identity.
She shares:
“My favorite part about being both a social worker and a social work educator is the privilege of witnessing growth in clients, students, and myself. I get to practice what I teach and teach what I practice! In the therapy room, I sit with people during some of their most vulnerable moments and help them uncover the strength they didn't realize they had. In the classroom, I guide future social workers as they discover their voice, their purpose, and their responsibility to this work. What I love most is the way these two roles feed each other. My clinical practice keeps me grounded and my teaching keeps me inspired.”
Fun Fact:
Mrs. Davis enjoys watching anime—blending creativity, storytelling, and imagination into the balance of her personal and professional life.
We invite our students, faculty, staff, and community partners to join us in celebrating Mrs. Shameika Davis and the dedication, passion, and excellence she brings to the School of Social Work.
Welcome, Ms. Davis! 💙🐯
