Sackett to become new provider in Floydada
Gary Sackett enjoyed Floyd County so much, he’s decided to make it his new home away from home as Covenant Health Plainview has announced the Family Nurse Practitioner will take over the Covenant Health West Family Medicine Clinic in Floydada starting Sept. 28.
“I’m really excited, I can’t wait to get there and get started,” said Sackett, who has worked for the West Texas medical organization from May 2020.
“I’m telling you; I absolutely love working there. I’m from a small town (Slaton) and I love the independence of a small-town clinic. The people of Floyd County are so friendly, and they really welcomed me when I covered there in the past,” said Sackett.
Sackett will take the helm from current Floydada provider Lori Johnson, FNP-C who will depart from the clinic to spend time with the newest member of her family.
“We just adopted our little 3-year-old, and I have received an opportunity to be at home more with her. I love all our patients at Floydada but have decided to take this opportunity to be at home with our little one,” said Johnson.
Johnson has served with the West Texas organization for the last 3 years.
“I have loved working in Floydada. The community has been so welcoming and supportive of our clinic. I am so thankful the patients here have entrusted me with their health. I do not take that lightly and appreciate every single patient. I am going to miss serving the community and am so thankful for my time here. Well wishes to my patients and staff at WTFM Floydada, I have loved and cherished our time together.”
Covenant Health Plainview thanked Johnson for her service in the rural clinic.
“Lori is a very talented health provider who really connected with Floyd County and the surrounding communities. We are going to miss her, but we understand and wish her luck on her future endeavors” said Covenant Health Plainview CEO, Cassie Mogg.
“We are very thankful Gary has decided to move his practice to Floydada. He provided health coverage in Floydada while Lori was on leave and really loved the experience. He is a very caring and skillful provider and has great aspirations of growing the Floydada clinic.”
Sackett is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and registered nurse. He completed his bachelors and Master of Science in nursing at Lubbock Christian University in 2007 and 2011 with a post masters graduate program focus as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing at Texas Tech University in 2012. He has had a focus in Family medicine with opportunities in private, rural, and federal employment with our country's heroes at the Veteran Administration. Gary served as an instructor at Covenant School of Nursing prior to his studies as a family nurse practitioner.
He currently lives in Slaton, Texas but is moving to Ralls after his wedding with fiancé, Missy Morin. Together the couple has nine children and two grandchildren. They also care for 4 younger relatives.
Outside of having a servant's heart towards his family and practice, he enjoys fishing and camping and comic book collecting.
Covenant Health West Texas Family Medicine Floydada will continue their current hours of Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
