Today, we come together to recognize World Cancer Day, a global day dedicated to raising awareness, honoring those affected by cancer, and standing in support of survivors, fighters, caregivers, and families.

Cancer has touched so many of our lives—whether personally, through a loved one, or within our community. Today is a reminder of the importance of prevention, early detection, compassion, and continued support for those facing this journey.

At Brightwood Center, we stand united in hope, strength, and care. We honor the courage of those fighting, remember those we’ve lost, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting one another—today and every day.

A Huge Round of Applause for Howard Tournay!

Today we are sending off Howard with the biggest clap of hands from our staff and residents as he heads home with his family — right where his heart is. When Howard first came to us, he wasn’t sure how long his journey would be. What he did know was that he was ready to put in the work.

And work he did.
Howard partnered with our Therapy team, stayed focused, and gave his all every single day. He did everything asked of him and more to make discharge possible — and in just two short months, he reached his goal!

A special thank you to the VA for helping make this transition smoother for Howard and his family. Your support played an important role in this successful discharge.

This is what determination, teamwork, and heart look like. We are so proud of you, Howard, and honored to have been part of your journey. Enjoy being back where you belong, surrounded by family and love. ❤️

Brightwood Center is dedicated to delivering high-quality care while making a meaningful impact in our community. A key part of that mission is investing in our youth and helping guide them as they transition from graduation to future careers, including opportunities in healthcare.

We are proud to offer valet part-time positions to seniors from our local high schools, providing them with hands-on experience in a healthcare setting while accommodating school schedules and athletic commitments. These opportunities allow students to gain real-world exposure, develop responsibility, and begin building a foundation for their future careers.

In addition, following graduation, Brightwood Center offers free CNA classes while getting paid for interested students.
Participants are able to work while completing their training, giving them a direct pathway into healthcare careers while continuing their education or pursuing other professional goals.

Tonight, during Senior Recognition Night at the Brooke High School varsity basketball game, we were proud to recognize senior Marionna Dipaolo.
Marionna exemplifies dedication both on and off the court. She maintains straight A's, competes as a varsity basketball player, and works part-time at Brightwood Center as a valet—successfully balancing academics, athletics, and employment throughout her senior year.

Brightwood Center was honored to present Marionna with a small token of appreciation, including a card and flowers, in recognition of her achievements and to thank her for her hard work and commitment.

We are proud to support students like Marionna and look forward to continuing to invest in the next generation of professionals as they take the next steps in their journeys.
