🌺👓 Meet Dr. Miyamura
Dr. Miyamura was born and raised in Hilo, Hawai‘i and earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa before completing her optometric training at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry.
She began practicing in Rancho Cordova in 1998 at the practice of Dr. Teresa Gerard. When Dr. Gerard retired in 2009, Dr. Miyamura continued the legacy by purchasing the practice and caring for the community for many years. In July 2025, Dr. Han became the new owner of the Rancho location with Healthy Eyes Optometry, where Dr. Miyamura now sees patients two days a week as she eases into partial retirement. Many of the patients she cares for today are some of Dr. Gerard’s original patients from long before she joined the practice—and even Dr. Gerard and her family still come in for their eye care.
Outside the office, Dr. Miyamura enjoys practicing yoga, kayaking at local favorites like Lake Natoma and Lodi Lake, and playing the flute (she’s a past member of the Sacramento Community Band!). She also loves baking desserts, cookies, and bread, and has recently been learning to knit and crochet. At home, she even cares for a solitary grapevine—perfect for a little homemade grape juice. 🍇
Now that she has a bit more free time, Dr. Miyamura is excited to travel more. Her most recent adventure was a trip to Japan in November 2025.
We’re grateful to have Dr. Miyamura continuing to care for patients at our Rancho Cordova location! 💙
