The Playmakers Organization is a unique nonprofit in the way we enhance the lives of all kids and families. In 2009, our founder Greg “Coach Roz” Roeszler, acted on an issue in the Greater Sacramento area of children raised in single-parent homes exposed to violence and drugs. As a coach, he realized that some of his football players were sleeping in their cars to avoid going back home after pract
ice. A mentoring foundation established that became, The Playmakers. Playmakers, as we are commonly known, operates as both a summer youth and tackle football camp with lessons on character and leadership. Coach Roz soon realized that students lose two months of reading skills over the summer, so Playmakers began incorporating a summer reading component during the football camps. The camps took place in Sacramento, California, and Omaha, Nebraska. Richards went on to play football at Folsom High School, to Stanford for college football, and currently plays for the Baltimore Ravens. He also was on the New England Patriots roster for Super Bowl LI in 2017. Richards and other college/professional football players apart of the Playmaker family serve as “Pay it Forward” mentors. From 2015 to 2018, our organization held after-school programs for children ages 8-12 that included character implementation, 30 minutes of reading, and outdoor sports. The schools were around our headquarters in Folsom. In April 2018, our Omaha and Stanford Playmaker, Harrison Phillips, was drafted by the Buffalo Bills. Since then, Playmakers has added over 100 new “Playmaker Pups” in Buffalo, NY that consist of at-risk youth and children with developmental differences. We have since adopted this new way of helping the community in Sacramento and Omaha to over 400 Playmaker Pups for sports camps. Mission: Playmakers enhances the lives of all kids and families through inclusive sports, serving in the community, and creating lifelong relationships. Your support will go a long way as we make a difference in our community efforts. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donation will be tax-deductible.
