Spotlight: Born in Neillsville, Wisconsin, Virginia Satir became one of the most influential figures in modern therapy. Known as the "Mother of Family Therapy," she believed that healing starts with how we see ourselves — and how we communicate with the people closest to us.

At a time when therapy was clinical and detached, Virginia chose a different path. She centered her work on self-worth, compassion, and genuine human connection. She also openly sought help for her own depression — normalizing something many still struggle to talk about today.

Her words still resonate: every person deserves to be met with dignity, and real change begins when we feel safe enough to be honest about where we are.
