Our final spring program is almost here, and it’s one you won’t want your child to miss. Roxaboxen is inspired by the treasured book by Alice McLerran — a story that celebrates the limitless magic of childhood imagination.

For one special day, children will step into a world where they build their own town in the woods, stones become money, and they dive deep into their own world.

What’s better than letting your little ones find adventures in the woods with friends?

Tiny Ones is for kiddos ages 1-6 with a caregiver. You and your child will venture outdoors for creative play opportunities that foster healthy child development.

🐭 Who remembers the Mouse Trap board game from the 90s???

This Saturday, our Mouse Trap 🪤 program invites kids to step into a life-sized adventure where imagination takes the lead. Think ramps, tunnels, tricky contraptions, and a whole lot of laughter as they work together to build their own wild mouse trap game and collect the most “cheese.”

🌱 Spring in the woods brings muddy boots, fresh air, and endless possibilities—and there’s something extra special about a mixed-age group of kids dreaming up big ideas together. The play unfolds, the plans evolve, and the magic happens in ways we could never script.

If your child loves to build, move, create, and get a little messy, this is the kind of day they won’t forget.

🌲 Woodland Tinkering | Ages 7-13
Calling all builders, thinkers, & adventurers! Kids will spend their days designing, constructing, & playing together in a child-led woodland setting full of possibility.

A magical week where children can slow down, dream big, & play deeply outdoors—filled with wonder, creativity, and a touch of everyday magic. ***Only one spot left!

💦 Sensory Adventures | Ages 7-13
A sensory-rich experience where kids can explore, invent, and play on a grand scale—expect big ideas, teamwork, laughter, and plenty of mess!

🎨 Extreme Art | Ages 5-13
The ultimate mix of play, creativity, and mess! Kids will create large-scale works of art from scratch using imagination and natural materials.

Our camps are rooted in child-led, open-ended play—giving kids the time and space to follow their ideas, build confidence, and fully experience childhood.

Boredom isn’t something to fix — it’s something to grow through 🌿

At TimberNook Lake Winnebago Region, we leave space for those long stretches of “nothing to do”… because that’s often where the best play begins.

At first, it might sound like:
“I’m bored.”
“I don’t know what to do.”

But give it time…
And suddenly it becomes:
“I have an idea.”
“Watch this!”

✨ Independent play is a muscle

🍕 Welcome to our Woodland Pizza Kitchen—where mud becomes sauce, leaves turn into toppings, and sticks are the perfect crust!

In this Tiny Ones session, your little chef will step into a world of pretend play, mixing, creating, and serving up their very own “pizzas” made entirely from nature. With the help of a caregiver, children can explore, experiment, and delight in the magic of outdoor, sensory-rich play.

There’s something special about watching a child fully immersed in their own idea—gathering ingredients, stirring up creations, and proudly sharing their masterpiece.

From “What should I do?” to “I’ve got an idea!” 🌿

It’s one of our favorite transformations to witness.

At first, a child might look around the woods waiting for instructions.
Waiting for direction.
Waiting for someone to tell them what comes next.

But in child-led, open-ended play, there is no script.
And something beautiful happens.

They pause.
They think.
They imagine.
And then—

💡 “I know!”

When children aren’t handed the plan, they create one.
When there isn’t a “right way,” they invent their own.
When adults step back, independence steps forward.

Open-ended outdoor play at TimberNook builds:
• Decision-making skills
