Our condolences to the family of Samuel H. French who passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Samuel H. French,79, of Ford Cliff passed away on Saturday, April 25,2026 in Armstrong Rehabilitation and Nursing, Kittanning.

Born October 15,1946, he was the son of the late Sam and Elizabeth (Montebell) Murphy.

Sam was a graduate of Kittanning High School and held an Associates degree in mechanics. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Sam worked as a heavy equipment operator prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the former St. Mary Catholic Church in Ford City and was a lifetime member of Ford Cliff Volunteer Firehall, where he was a trustee for over 35 years. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, gardening, collected and fixed cars in his younger years, and could be found talking to his buddies often. Friends knew if they needed anything, just ask Sam.

Sam most cherished his family and his wife of just over 57 years Susan (Masters) French.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his only child, Jennifer Sue Varner on June 9,1997.

He is survived by his wife Susan; granddaughters Samantha (Andrew) Fellhauer of Vandergrift and Taylr Varner of Altoona; great-grandchildren Teagan and Emersyn and sister Marilyn.

Per Sam’s wishes, all services private and entrusted to Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., Ford City.

Our condolences to the family of Marsha A. Swigart who passed away in her yome on Wednesday, April 22,2026.

Marsha Ann (Williams) Swigart,79, of Ford City passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 22,2026.

She was born February 19,1947 in Johnstown, PA and moved to Kittanning her freshman year of high school. Marsha married Jack Swigart on July 19,1966 and enjoyed almost 61 years of loving marriage. She loved to read, shopping for clothing and jewelry, enjoyed sunbathing, and was always on a diet.

Marsha enjoyed spending time with the ladies at card club, attending Multiple Sclerosis get-togethers, and being with family. She loved the Game Show Network, screaming “No Whammies”, and playing Scrabble. The nickname “EO” was lovingly given to her only grandchild (Joseph Recupero III) because she always sang him “Old MacDonald”.

Marsha is survived by her beloved husband Jack W. Swigart; daughters Jennifer (John) Recupero and Erica (Adam) Swigart; cherished grandson Joseph Recupero III; sister Dee (the late Steve) Molnar; and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Marsha was preceded in death by sister Connie (John) Sasko and brothers Larry and Donnie Williams.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24,2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Avenue, Ford City.

Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 25,2026 at 1 PM in the funeral home with Chaplain Scott Kifer who provided much comfort to Marsha and her family. Burial will follow in Ford City Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Monarch Hospice for the care and kindness given.

Our condolences to the family of James W. Shiring who passed away on Monday, April 20,2026.

James W. Shiring, Sr.,92, of Ford City passed away on Monday, April 20,2026 in ACMH emergency room.

Born March 29,1934 in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Boyd and Johanna (Cross) Shiring.

James was a lifelong resident of the area. He worked as a machinist for PPG prior to his retirement. He was a longtime member of Christ, Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ford City.
James was also a lifetime member of Ford City Hose Company #1, the Eagles, and the C.U.Club. He enjoyed gardening and watching his grandchildren play sports.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Laura “Pat” (Valasek) Shiring in 2015 and a great-granddaughter Felicity.

James is survived by sons James W. Shiring,Jr. of Ford City, Stephen ( Tamara) Shiring also of Ford City, Erick (Patricia) Shiring of Kittanning and Scott (Vicki) Shiring, also of Kittanning; daughters Laurie Lattanzio and Bill of Ford City and Letitia (Stephen) O’Donnell of Cowansville; grandchildren Laura (Eric) and their children Grayson, Henry, and Rory; James III, Stephen Jr. (Ashleigh) and their child Seraphine; Samantha (Aaron) and their child Arthur; Elizabeth (Andrew), Lexxie (Colby)and their children Mia, Quinn, Madeline and Jude, Katie (Kyle)and their children Josephine, Lillian, and Genevieve; Erick Jr., Nate (Ashley) and their children Mila and Myles; Laken (Craig) and their children Daxon and Finley; Nick (Kate) and their child Ila; Emilee (Nick) and their children Naomi and Coleson; Latitia (Jon) and their child Margaux; David (Baylee), Stephen Jr. and Joseph; extended family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25,2026 at 11 AM in Christ, Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the charity of one’s choice.

Our condolences to the family of John R. “Jack” Augustine who passed away on Sunday, April 19,2026.

John R. “Jack” Augustine, 88, of Ford City, passed away in his home surrounded by family on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Born Jan. 19, 1938, in West Kittanning, he was the son of the late John S. and Emma (Gowetski) Augustine.
Jack was a lifelong resident of the area. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. Jack worked for and retired after 34 years from West Penn Power Armstrong Station as a superintendent. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, his gun collection, camping, traveling and attending church every Sunday at St. Paul’s Monastery. He most treasured his time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori and George Whipkey; grandson, Dylan Fahlor; sisters, Audrey Gateman, of Texas and Christine Boarts; and brother, Paul Augustine.
He is survived by daughters, Theresa “Terri” Loughrey, of Lower Burrell and Jacquelyn “Jackie” (Tom) Fahlor, of Chicora; three granddaughters: Annie Hartman, Samantha Whipkey, and Danielle (Chad) McWilliams; three grandsons: Carrick Harp, Cameron Harp and Austin Fahlor; seven great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; brother, James Augustine, of Florida; also survived by partner, Connie L. Douglass, of West Kittanning and ex-wife, Noreen Venturini; and extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Friday, April 24, 2026, in Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City, from 1 p.m. until time of Blessing service at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with Father Edward Volz as officiant. Military honors to follow the service.

Our condolences to the family of Daniel W. Riggle who passed away in his home on Wednesday, April 8,2026.

Daniel Wayne Riggle, 73, of Ford City, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 8, 2026. Born on December 29, 1952, Dan lived a life rooted in hard work, family, and the outdoors.
Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sherry Riggle. Together, they built a life centered on love and family.
He is survived by his son, Matthew (Angie) Riggle, and his daughter, Kristy (Danny) Soisson. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Mykenzie, Mya, and Mylea Riggle, and Danika Soisson, who brought him immense joy.
He is also survived by his siblings, Stanley Riggle, William Riggle, and Carol Klugh. He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Rupp; his brother, Jeffrey “Bo” Riggle; and his parents, Earl Riggle Jr. and Alice Riggle.
Dan spent many years working as a coal miner before continuing his career as an electrical inspector. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.
In his free time, Dan enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at camp. He had a deep love for racing—especially watching NASCAR—and took great pride and joy in watching his great-nephews race. Those moments were especially meaningful to him. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and rarely missed a chance to watch a game.
Dan will be remembered not only for his quiet strength and love of the outdoors, but also for his smart sense of humor. He had a way of making those around him smile with his quick wit, leaving lasting impressions and cherished memories with family and friends. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 9,2026 from 3 PM until 7 PM in the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Avenue, Ford City. All other services private.

Our condolences to the family of Tracy A. Stivason who passed away Easter Sunday, April 5,2026.

Tracy A. Stivason, 65, of Ford City passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, April 5,2026 in ACMH Emergency Room, Kittanning.

Born March 27,1961 in Kittanning, she was the daughter of the late Darrell and surviving Mary Ellen (Sanoba) Stivason.

Tracy was a registered nurse, specializing as a very talented IV nurse for Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights for 34 years, then finishing her career at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh for the past 10 years.

Tracy loved all Ford City sports, traveling to see the teams wherever they played, and especially enjoyed watching her nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and great-nephews play whatever sport they played. Friday night football was her favorite activity to watch. She watched all of the Pittsburgh teams, whether it was Steelers football, Penguins hockey, or Pirates baseball. Her hobbies included knitting, reading and baking ( especially making her famous “Gobs”, of which she never gave out the recipe !

Tracy was very much family oriented. Her life revolved around those she cared for, in her profession as well as her family.

Tracy was preceded in death by her father, Darrell Stivason.

She is survived by her mother Mary Ellen (Sanoba) Stivason of Manorville; brother Joseph ( Beth) Stivason of McGrann; sisters Susan ( John) Gispanski of Manorville and Angela (Dave) Fox of Ford City; nieces Ashley (Mario), Samantha, Lily, and Avery; nephews Jesse (Morgan), Cody ( Brooke) and Tanner; a number of great- nieces and great- nephews; extended family and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9,2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 in the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Avenue, Ford City.

Mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Friday, April 10,2026 at 10 AM in Christ, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Ford City. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates Worthington.

Thomas A. Space,75, lifelong resident of Ford City passed away on Wednesday, April 1,2026 in his home.

Born July 2,1950 in Kittanning, he was the son of Angelo and Vasa ( Yarovich) Space.

Thomas was a graduate of Ford City high school. He worked at Keystone Power Plant and then retired from Edgewater Steel. He also worked for Space Hauling.

Thomas was a member of the Greek Orthodox Catholic Church, a member of the Macedonian Club of Ford City, and spent many days working and just hanging out at Space’s Fruit Market. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and mostly just hanging out with his friends.

Thomas also worked for McAfoose Taxi, driving taxi with a chauffeur hat. A man named Lopez used to play guitar in a band at the Liberty tavern and ended up with a DUI and jail time in Armstrong County. Being a small town, of course the judge, knowing the Liberty tavern and being a fan of the country and western music that Lopez played with his band, knew Lopez well. He gave him work release, allowing Thomas to drive him from the jail at 7 AM to the Liberty to work, making certain Thomas drove him back on time every day.

In addition to his parents Thomas was preceded in death by his brother James Space; and sister Eleanor and Alex Szaszy.

He is survived by brother Christy Space; niece Kristina (Sean) Jones and family; nephew Ben Space and family; Rose Bell and daughter Billie Jo Brennen and family; and a large number of extended family and friends.

Per Thomas’ wishes, all services were private and entrusted to Mantini Funeral Home, Inc.

Our condolences to the family of Amy Marie Mechling, who passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Amy Marie (Young) Mechling, 86, of Latrobe and formerly of Ford City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
Born May 4, 1939, in Camp Joann, she was the daughter of the late Wilber and Grace (Love) Young.
Amy worked for Numec and Alcoa as a secretary and also for Armstrong School District. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, flea markets, collecting various items and treasuring her family.
Amy and her husband Floyd F. Mechling, Jr. (who passed away on September 8, 2018) designed and built their home, enjoying it for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Amy is preceded in death by her brother, George Young. She is survived by her son, Floyd F. “Frank” (Julie) Mechling III, of Latrobe; step-granddaughter, Katherine Quigley, of Pittsburgh; brother, Daniel Young; and extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City.
Service and interment private on Monday.

Our condolences to the family of Cathy C Kluciar who passed away on March 9,2026 in her home in Florida.

Cathy Celeste Kluciar, age 75, of Pompano Beach, Florida, passed away on March 9, 2026. She was born on April 23, 1950, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, to the late Liberato and Catherine Vergari.
She graduated from Ford City High School in 1968. Throughout her life, she worked in and helped manage several family taverns and restaurants, where her warmth, humor, and easy smile made her a natural at bringing people together. She loved cooking and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends.
She will be remembered for her humor, her generous spirit, and her ability to make people feel welcome. Whether sharing a meal, telling a story, or simply enjoying time with those she loved, she had a way of making people feel at ease.
Survivors include her son, James Hutchens, and his partner, Christina Raschke; her brother, Louis Vergari, and his wife, Natalie; her nieces and nephews, Dylan Vergari, Vito Vergari, Nina Rogers, Anthony Vergari, Mia Vergari, and Jodie DiMiceli; and close family friend, Ezra Raschke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Liberato and Catherine Vergari; her brother, Albert Vergari; her niece, Catherine Vergari; and her husband, Andrew “Butch” Kluciar.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City.
A Blessing service will be held on Saturday March 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Burial to follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Betty (Flanders)Stivason, 99, of Ford City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11,2026 in QLS Sugarcreek Personal Care Home, Worthington.

Born June 13,1926 in Kittanning (Garretts Run), she was the daughter of the late Fred and Catherine (Snee) Flanders.

Betty was a longtime member of Appleby Manor Church in Ford City. She married Paul Stivason and happily became a homemaker and raised children. She also worked for 20 years at Miller’s Hoagies. Betty was a very kind and giving lady who will be well-remembered for her faith and giving nature.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul Stivason; cherished son Father Paul Randall Stivason; grandsons Brian Schaul and Scott Stivason; and granddaughter-in-law Tabitha Stivason.

Betty is survived by her adored children, daughter Linda (Dave) Schaul of Worthington and son Robert (Sandy) Stivason of Cochranton, PA; grandchildren Kristen (Jason) Guthrie and Jeff (Emily) Stivason; 5 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Our condolences to the family of Sandra L. “Sandy” Kostek who passed away on Tuesday, March 10,2026.

Sandra “Sandy” L. (Kaliszewski) Kostek, 76, of Ford City passed away peacefully in the care of and surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 10,2026.

Born July 13,1949 in Kittanning, she was the daughter of the late Alexander W. and Wanda P. (Bishop) Kaliszewski.

Sandy was a lifelong resident of Ford City, a member of the former St. Francis DePaola Catholic Church and a longtime member of Christ, Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ford City. She was a homemaker, who loved raising her children, cooking, baking, bowling, gardening, and canning. Sandy loved playing cards. She was a devoted caregiver to numerous people in the area.

For Sandy, no mere words could capture who she was.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willian A. Kostek; brothers-in-law Theadore C. Beers and Harold “Butch” Flaherty; and her beloved pooch “Peanutt”.

Sandy is survived by her children Kelly Anne Kostek of Ford City, and sons Brian (Amy) Kostek of Lower Burrell and Todd M. (Shannon) Kostek of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Andrew and Tucker; twin sisters Alexis (the late Theadore) Beers of Slate Lick and Alice (Roger) Micciche of Maryland, sister Alana (the late Harold “Butch”) Flaherty of North Port, FL; numerous nieces and nephews on the Kostek side, extended family, neighbors and friends.

Visitation Thursday, March 12,2026 from 2-4 and 6 -8 PM in the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Avenue, Ford City.

A Blessing service will be held on Friday, March 13,2026 in the funeral home at 10 AM.

Our condolencesto the family of Richard J. Vojna who passed aeay on Saturday, March 7,2026.

Richard J. Vojna, 92, of Ford City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his residence on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Born Oct. 14, 1933, in Ford City, he was the last surviving child of John T. and Mary (Varadi) Vojna.
Richard was a graduate of Ford City High School. He was a lifelong resident of Ford City and well known for being a hardworking craftsman. He worked well into his 80s, changing out hot water tanks and replacing roofs.
Richard was a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church, loved building things with wood for his children and grandchildren, staying active, gardening, and building and flying RC Airplanes. He was devoted to his family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by children: Theresa Uyema, of Ford City, Cynthia (William Sirochman) Crissman, of Kittanning, Shelly McCollough, of Leechburg, Deanna (Paul Lloyd) Farester, of Slippery Rock, Richard, Jr.(Peggy Gaston) Vojna, of Echo and John (Julie) Vojna, of Ford City; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
To honor his wishes, all services private.
Burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Ford City.
