This month marks 15 years since the doors of UM Upper Chesapeake Health’s Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill first opened - providing compassionate, end‑of‑life care for our neighbors during times of need. What began as a vision became a reality through the dedication of friends, neighbors and community partners who generously gave of their time, talents and treasures. This commitment built more than a house; it built a haven of dignity, peace and comfort.

Today, philanthropy continues to support the Hooper House mission - providing compassionate care in a home‑like setting for all who need it. We extend our sincere gratitude to our devoted team members and care providers, as well as to our generous donors and volunteers.

Last week, members of the Senator Bob Hooper House Hospice and UM Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation teams, along with dear friends, honored the life of long-time Hooper House volunteer Mrs. Dorothy J. Brooks. After more than a decade of dedicated service, Mrs. Brooks was later cared for as a resident of the Hooper House, where she passed in June 2025.

Through her generosity of time, talent, and a gift made through her estate, Mrs. Brooks’ legacy continues by supporting compassionate end-of-life care for residents in need 🌼. To formally recognize her philanthropy and extraordinary commitment to the Hooper House mission, she will be inducted into the Foundation’s 1912 Planned Giving Society in April 2026.

The rain didn’t keep us from Golfing for a Cause last week!

Thank you to our event sponsors, golfers, participants and volunteers who supported our annual Chesapeake Challenge Golf Tournament benefiting the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill.

To date, $138,000 has been raised, providing over 460 days and nights of charity care for our neighbors at the Hooper House during their time of need.
