Christmas is a season built on light breaking through darkness, on hope arriving quietly in a weary world. At its heart, Christmas reminds us that no one is meant to carry pain alone that even in the most fragile moments, love shows up, sits close, and stays.

That truth closely mirrors the mission of the Invisible Wounds Project. Every day, we meet men and women who have carried the weight of service, trauma, and loss long after the uniforms come off. Like the story of Christmas, healing doesn’t always arrive with fanfare. Sometimes it comes in the form of a warm meal, a shared conversation, a creative outlet, or simply a safe place to breathe and be seen.

Christmas speaks of belonging, of being known, and of community gathering around those who are hurting. IWP exists for that same reason: to remind our military, police, fire, EMS, frontline medical staff, corrections, 911 dispatchers, veterans, and their families that they are not forgotten, that their pain matters, and that hope is still possible.

In a season filled with lights, may we remember those still walking through the dark. And in that remembrance, may we continue to show up offering compassion, connection, and the steady reminder that no one has to heal alone.

Merry Christmas!

On Tuesday, December 16, retired Brooklyn Park Police Officer Clayton Connolly tragically lost his life while assisting a stranded motorist on the side of Highway 169. Our hearts are with his family, his children, his friends, and all those who had the honor of serving alongside him throughout his career.

The world was better with Clayton in it, but for those who knew him, it comes as no surprise that he died doing what he always did: helping others.

Please see the comments below for a way to support his family.

Winter break is the perfect time to get outside, breathe in some fresh air, and reset. Even small moments outdoors can have a big impact on mental health by reducing stress, improving mood, and helping us feel more grounded. Here are 10 outdoor activities to enjoy this winter break.

❄️ Go for a winter hike and notice how peaceful the trails feel this time of year. Quiet movement in nature can help calm racing thoughts.

❄️ Build a snowman or snow fort with family or friends. Play and laughter support connection and release stress.

❄️ Try ice skating at a local rink or frozen lake (where it’s safe). Physical activity helps boost endorphins and energy.

❄️ Go sledding or tubing and embrace your inner kid. Joyful movement can break up heavy or anxious feelings.

❄️ Take a scenic winter walk and snap photos of frosty trees and sunsets. Mindfully noticing your surroundings can ease anxiety and improve focus.

❄️ Have a backyard bonfire and warm up with hot cocoa. Gathering with others and slowing down supports emotional connection.

❄️ Try cross country skiing or snowshoeing if you want something new. Learning a new skill can build confidence and resilience.

❄️ Shovel or clear snow for a neighbor who might need a helping hand. Acts of service can increase feelings of purpose and belonging.

❄️ Do a winter picnic with warm drinks and cozy blankets. Changing your environment, even briefly, can refresh your mindset.

❄️ Simply sit outside for a few quiet minutes and enjoy the calm that winter brings. Stillness and fresh air can help regulate your nervous system.

Getting outside doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful. What’s one outdoor activity that helps you reset during the winter?

Happy Wednesday from Invisible Wounds Project ❤️

As we move through this week, we are taking a moment to reflect on the moments that made this year meaningful. The conversations that turned into connections. The classes, groups, and gatherings that brought people together. The quiet wins and the big milestones that reminded us why this community matters.

This space is built by the people who walk through the doors, show up for one another, and choose connection even on the hard days. Every story, every shared moment, and every act of support helps shape what Invisible Wounds Project continues to be.

We would love to hear from you. What has been your favorite memory at Invisible Wounds Project this past year?

We would like to extend one more thank you to everyone who participated in our 4th Annual Sip & Shop Fundraiser and The Holy Rocka Rollaz 50's Christmas Concert. Together, we raised more than $10,000 to support the mission of the Invisible Wounds Project.

We often say this is a community built by the community, and we truly could not do this without our incredible supporters and vendors. A special thank you to BFirst Industrial and O’Hara & Hunter Consulting for helping make this event possible.

As a way to say thank you, we invite all of our followers and supporters to like and follow or vendor's pages. Small businesses grow and thrive through community support, and we are living proof of that.

To our vendors, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
