We’re proud to highlight an eye care professional whose dedication, leadership, and service have made a meaningful impact in both the medical and athletic communities — Dr. Jeanne Ge**er, O.D.

We recently had the pleasure of ✈️ traveling to Colorado Springs, Co to meet and instruct Dr. Ge**er, as well as her wonderful colleagues and staff at Executive Park Eye Care.

A member of both the American Optometric Association and the Colorado Optometric Association. Her expertise has helped shape the field through contact lens research and advising leading corporations. She also provides eye care for athletes at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and Colorado College Athletics. 🏅which is such a COOL affiliation!

Dr. Ge**er’s passion for service extends globally. She has served on the board for the U.S. Association of Blind Athletes and is the U.S. Classifier for the International Paralympic Committee and the International Blind Sports Association, helping ensure fair competition for blind athletes around the world.

Thank you, Dr. Ge**er, for using your expertise to make such a meaningful difference! 🌟

Today our CPR mannequin is taking in the sights in Colorado before getting back to work helping teach lifesaving skills on Thursday in Colorado Springs.

BRAG MOMENT FRIDAY 👏

Today we’re giving a shout-out to Liberty University student Hutton for his awareness, quick thinking, and willingness to act in a critical moment.

While enjoying what was supposed to be peanut-free ice cream, Jeremiah’s friend accidentally consumed a peanut. At first, his friend realized what had happened but wasn’t experiencing difficulty breathing. Knowing the early signs of an allergic reaction, Jeremiah gave him Benadryl while closely monitoring the situation.

When breathing difficulties suddenly began — a sign that the reaction was escalating toward anaphylaxis — Jeremiah immediately sprang into action. After administering a dose of epinephrine and making sure his friend got to the ER quickly, the situation was brought under control.

Because Jeremiah recognized the warning signs and acted quickly, his friend survived what could have been a devastating anaphylactic shock.

Great work, Jeremiah! Your awareness and decisive action made all the difference. 👏💙

Shoutout to Linkhorne Middle School, Lynchburg, VA for taking proactive steps to prepare their students for real-life emergencies like cardiac arrest and choking!

As many know, First Aid, CPR, and AED training is a graduation requirement for Virginia HIGH SCHOOL students, and it’s incredible to see local middle schools giving kids an early start. These experiences build confidence, awareness, and life-saving skills long before high school — setting students up for success when they take the official course later on.

This is how we build safer schools and stronger communities. 💙🫀

“Students shall be trained in emergency first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED), including hands-on practice of the skills necessary to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Students with an IEP or 504 Plan that documents that they cannot successfully complete this training shall be granted a waiver from this graduation requirement, as provided in is a 8VAC20-131-420(B).”
