✨ World Diabetes Day ✨
Today hits a little different.
I’ve lived with Type 1 Diabetes for 14 years, and every year I’m reminded that this condition doesn’t just affect me — it touches my whole family.
This year, we made the decision to have our kids tested for Type 1 diabetes autoantibodies. It wasn’t an easy choice… and if I’m honest, opening those results was one of the most emotional moments I’ve had in a long time.
I’m incredibly grateful — all three kids tested negative.
But the days leading up to that envelope, and the seconds before unfolding that paper, were heavy. Hope, fear, love, and uncertainty all mixed together.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease. It’s no one’s fault, it’s not caused by sugar, and it can affect people of any age. Early detection matters. Awareness matters. Research matters.
And so does supporting families who live with these decisions every single day.
Today, for World Diabetes Day, I’m celebrating the strength of the T1D community, the amazing advances in care, the families walking this journey, and the ongoing push for better tools, better access, and earlier detection. 💙
And I’m hugging my crew a little tighter.
