QUEEN OF WANDS

Today's card is the Queen of Wands, which may represent a literal person in your life, or aspects of yourself. A person represented by the Queen of Wands would usually, but not always, be a mature feminine energy; someone who is very independent, creative, intuitive, friendly, charismatic, and optimistic. She has a very dominating, energetic, sometimes even aggressive personality, and is often considered by many to be "the life of the party." Very warm, open-minded, and vibrant, this Queen attracts people to her like a magnet. She is very determined and possesses many of the same characteristics as the King of Wands, such as a very strong, innate leadership ability. This Queen is of the suit of fire, and, as such, she is very passionate. Her creative energy motivates her in every aspect of her life, and her intuition is so strong that she may often possess psychic ability. The Queen of Wands radiates health and vitality, often influencing and inspiring all who have the pleasure of making her acquaintance.

KING OF SWORDS

The King of Swords is who the Page of Swords becomes once he has experienced life and has matured. The King of Swords would depict a literal person in your life; someone who operates with the highest ethical standards, and is impossible to corrupt. Very analytical, logical, and reasoning-oriented, the King of Swords often chooses work in intellectual fields, and could represent someone who is an authority figure, such as a police officer, lawyer, doctor, or judge. This King has a solid reputation and a vast knowledge, possessing the ability to keep his emotions in-check under pressure. The King of Swords knows how to remain detached from his emotions in order to observe situations in the most objective light. He has a very strong intellectual power, always applying reason and logic in order to create positive solutions to any of life's problems. He is honest, insightful, a just ruler, a mentor, and an advocate.

PAGE OF SWORDS

The Page of Swords is a card about communication, the sharing of information, and the beginning of grand ideas. Because he is a court card, the Page of Swords could literally depict a person in your life, or even aspects of yourself. Because the Page is at the start of his journey, he lacks experience and maturity. Someone represented by the Page of Swords would be extremely energetic, enthusiastic, young-at-heart, talkative, and curious. Because of this curiosity, the Page often asks so many questions that others may find him irritating; a trait which also makes him an excellent student, an avid learner, researcher, and explorer. This card also represents the simplicity of the truth; when you operate with integrity and honesty, you succeed in avoiding the unnecessary conflict and pain that often results from lies. Because Swords represent ideas, words, and the intellect, truth and justice are the highest ideals of the Page of Swords. This Page can also be hot-headed and temperamental, at times. When you see this card, it is important to think things through, act honestly, speak directly, act ethically, and accept responsibility for your words/actions.

ACE OF SWORDS

The Ace of Swords is about mental clarity. Swords represent words (whether written or spoken), ideas, and the intellect. Swords correlate to the suit of Spades in a traditional playing deck, and represent the element of air. As such, swords (words) are often quick-moving and swift. Aces represent new beginnings and opportunities. All of the Aces in the Rider Waite deck have a hand presenting each suit as a gift from the sky, symbolizing the universe handing you an opportunity. With the suit of Swords, this opportunity would involve mental clarity; the ability to efficiently organize your ideas, to express yourself clearly, and to rationalize the words of others in order to detect lies. But, as with any opportunity, this gift is like a seed, and it's up to you to plant it, care for it, and make sure it grows. Swords are very intellectual, analytical, and reasoning-oriented, and represent integrity and truth. The Ace of Swords gives you a platform for honesty, in which you are not only better able to "cut through" the lies of others, but are more prone to honesty, yourself. Essentially, the Ace of Swords means your mind is sharp, but it is up to you to keep it sharp.

THE MAGICIAN

This card is named The Magician, and is a Major Arcana card (meaning it carries more power/weight that cards from any of the four suits, otherwise known as the Lesser Arcana). This card represents manifestation, power, skill, talent, and concentration without effort. The Magician is the master of all four suits, which are present on the table before him (Pentacles [representing money, earth, and the material world], Swords [representing words, ideas, and the element of air], Wands [representing creativity, thoughts, fire, and passion], and Cups [representing love, emotions, feelings, and the element of water].). The Magician points a baton toward the sky, and his finger toward the earth, signifying his ability to manifest what is "above" (thoughts, ideas, messages from Spirit) to what is "below" (Earth). The infinity symbol above his head shows us that The Magician's power is derived from his infinite knowledge, which he has earned through his many life experiences; he has truly worked hard to obtain the knowledge he possesses, and is a bit of a showman because of it. While The High Priestess (card II) possesses the same ability to take the unseen and make it seen, she does so "behind the scenes." The Magician, however, likes to flaunt his abilities and talents, as if he were on stage. When you see this card in a reading, you should be feeling the utmost confidence and should rest assured in your ability to overcome life's obstacles.

PAGE OF CUPS

The Page of Cups is one of the most romantic cards the tarot deck has to offer. Pages often represent new beginnings, and can symbolize young people. Because he is of the suit of Cups (which deals with love, emotions, and feelings), this Page would represent someone who is not yet experienced in the realm of such emotions. As such, this card represents the purity of young love, and the beginning of good feelings which have not yet been tainted by negative emotions. In this respect, this card can represent a "first love," or a love that feels so pure it's as if you are loving for the first time. The King and Queen of Cups are both very emotionally stable and in control; they've felt the pain that love can sometimes bring, and they have grown strong because of it. The Page, however, is approaching love with a childlike wonder and enthusiasm; the way one should always approach romance. At his worst this Page recognizes the fact that you have a lot to learn in your emotional development. At his best, love is all around.

SIX OF CUPS

This card is the Six of Cups. Cups are the suit which represent love, emotions, and feelings. Cups correlate to the suit of Hearts in a traditional playing deck (used for games such as poker), and are represented by the element of water. In the Six of Cups, we see two children playing in a garden. Because these children are young, they do not yet know the "proper" use for these cups, representing their emotions. Instead of filling these cups with water (representing intuition and the subconscious), we see these children engaged in a form of "child's play." It is as if they are playing "house;" the children don't yet recognize the importance of the act they are playing out, but they can see the beauty in it (represented by the flowers). This is a card of the past; a card of memories, of looking back, and nostalgia. When you receive this card, you could be especially prone to thinking fondly of "the way things used to be," and, as such, this card reminds you that, while it is important to look to the past for lessons learned, it is even more important not to dwell in the past or to let past memories consume your present. This is a very lighthearted, positive card, and, if used in a "yes or no" question, would represent a "yes."
