What?!! There are hundreds of each variety of cabbage ready to be transplanted! Now! I know what I'm going to be doing today!!
We have six kinds of cabbage - Bravo, Early Flat Dutch, Late Flat Dutch, Golden Acres, Red Acres & Stonehead!

Almost 80 degrees!! That's right - I'm in my paradise - the greenhouse! The first 400 tomatoes are seriously taking off! Last weekend I seeded again - four varieties of cabbage & seven varieties of tomatoes & they are all germinated & looking really good!!

What do you expect at 5 degrees!!! Yep, went to water the seedlings this morning and was greeted with frozen water lines! Got the water lines thawed and watered the 400 "just transplanted" tomatoes. They are fine! Whew! Now to insulate the seed house more by packing grit & gravel around base of greenhouse. I've really got to learn how to run the new skid steer!! Lol Donnies tool - skid steer with heat...my tool - shovel....

Took advantage of the warmer temps & the sunshine today and started to clean up the veggie greenhouse that got damaged in the wind storm a few weeks ago. The storm took all the plastic off, some metal & side boards. Lots of work yet to do!

Donnie & I are under Macie's supervision today! Two greenhouses down - cleaned & bleached!! Only five more to go - 12,000 sq feet!! In the seed house, my little seedlings are about ready for their first transplant! So excited!!

Baby it's cold outside...but it's warm in the greenhouse!! Last week we started to get ready for this year's greenhouse season by cleaning the seed house & bleaching it!! Feels great to be back in greenhouses! On Friday we seeded tomatoes to plant in high tunnel & on Tuesday we had a couple little sprouts that popped up!! I went away to meetings this week in Staunton Va & I come home to green trays!! Good germination!! Just getting started!
Brookedale Greenhouses will be open mid-March 9-5 Monday-Saturday!!

Pyramid Farm LLC Corn Maze invites you to Family Fun Day at Brookedale Farm today! Maze is open from 1-8:30 but between 1-5 pm is our Annual Warm the Children fundraiser!! Extra activities for same admission price of $7 per person - entertainment on stage, inflatables, horse rides, lucky door, coloring contest, face painting, games plus all regular maze activities!! Christian Evans will be performing on stage during the afternoon. Crafts, fall decorations & food at the Harvest Grill!! Come try our yummy cheeseburgers, hamburgers, & sloppy joes made with our homegrown beef! Also in Harvest Grill homemade apple dumplings, apples and caramel, buffalo chicken dip and so much more!! Come see us down on the farm!!
