Our Board of Directors recently approved a $23,881.56 community grant to the City of Fort Atkinson, WI-Government in support of two new Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) and updated crosswalks to be installed at the intersection of N. Main Street & N. Water Street, and another on Janesville Avenue (crossing from Jones Park to the bike path in front of Jones Market).

The Department of Public Works is covering half the cost of these two projects through their Capital Improvements Plan, and our foundation will fund the remaining half through grant support from our General Fund and Carol Liddle Field of Interest Fund.

City Manager, Rebecca Houseman, stated "I am thrilled that the Community Foundation is supporting the RRFB projects. The need for the projects was identified through the Main Street and Janesville Avenue corridor planning efforts, which included significant engagement from stakeholders and community members. After installation, the RRFBs will provide additional notification of existing cross walks for drivers at these specific intersections, which will increase pedestrian safety and confidence in accessing our City’s businesses and parks on foot."
