Measles Update for the El Paso and Fort Bliss Community!

Your health is our #1 priority. Our Army Public Health professionals are working closely with the City of El Paso Department of Public Health after measles cases were confirmed in El Paso.

Here is what you need to know to keep your family safe:

1. CHECK YOUR VACCINATION STATUS! We urge everyone to confirm you’ve had TWO doses of the MMR vaccine.
Not fully vaccinated? It’s time for a shot! You can get vaccinated at your primary care clinic or network pharmacy. Please call ahead to check if the vaccine is available. You can also call the WBAMC appointment line at 915-742-2273.
Fully vaccinated but been exposed? Keep a close eye on your health and monitor for symptoms for the next 21 days.

2. KNOW THE SYMPTOMS! Be on the lookout for:
- Fever over 101 degrees Fahrenheit
- Cough
- Red, watery eyes
- A rash that starts on the face and spreads down the body.

3. WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS? If you or a family member experiences these symptoms, please CALL your primary care provider for evaluation and testing. If a rash appears, health officials recommend isolating at home to prevent further spread. Remember, symptoms can appear up to 21 days after you’ve been around someone with measles.

Important: If you need to be seen in person, please call the clinic or hospital before you go so they can be ready for your arrival.

For any life-threating symptoms, go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Twenty-five Soldiers joined the Army's medical ranks as 68C Practical Nurses following a graduation ceremony held at the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence on Thursday, February 12, 2026. These new nurses completed all the requirements at William Beaumont Army Medical Center and are now prepared to provide critical and compassionate care for the nation's warfighters both on and off the battlefield.

Team McAfee executed a comprehensive Mass Casualty (MASCAL) Exercise. This critical preparation, training, and validation event rehearsed and validated triage protocols, advanced medical skills, and the coordination of both ground and air MEDEVAC procedures. The exercise enhanced the unit's medical readiness, refined emergency action protocols, and bolstered the installation's organic medical capabilities to augment White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) Department of Emergency Services (DES) teams. The MASCAL scenario encompassed two distinct events: a simulated explosion and an active shooter, culminating in the triage and treatment of 28 simulated casualties.

Beware of scam websites for MHS GENESIS!

“Scam websites can look very convincing,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Tara L. Conner, Chief Health Informatics Officer, Health Informatics Division at the Defense Health Agency. “Official MHS GENESIS Patient Portal access always starts through trusted, secure sources and has a URL that ends with .mil. If something doesn’t look right, stop and check before proceeding.”
While online tools like MHS GENESIS make access to health care easier, it’s important to exercise caution.
Online scammers can and do create fake websites that look like official pages to trick you into sharing personal information.
