I'm thrilled to share that I've joined the board of directors for ORCA (Organic Regenerative Certified Apprenticeship), a new nonprofit right here in Mendocino County!
As an Ayurvedic practitioner, I've spent years understanding how the quality of medicinal herbs directly reflects the health of the soil they're grown in. You simply cannot create high-quality healing plants from depleted, imbalanced soil - true medicine starts at the root level, literally.
This is why ORCA's mission resonates so deeply with me. Just as Ayurveda focuses on foundational health rather than treating symptoms, regenerative agriculture heals the soil itself - building fertility, restoring balance, and creating the conditions for plants to express their full medicinal potential. The same principles that guide healing in Ayurveda guide ORCA's approach to the land.
ORCA's state-certified apprenticeship program will train the next generation to grow the highest quality food and herbs our community deserves, while healing our land for future generations. I'm honored to support Executive Director David King and the team as we build this program from the ground up.
If you're interested in learning more about ORCA or want to get involved, reach out to the organization directly - we'd love to connect with you!
