The Autumn Pointe residents get invited to attend St. John the Baptist Catholic Church's Pioneer Friends Luncheon every month. It's a team of absolutely wonderful volunteers that put together the lunch and bingo with prizes afterwards. Today's lunch was made by the Rustic and it was fantastic. After lunch, names for door prizes were drawn and two of our residents won. Then when they played bingo, we had 5 lucky winners. It was a great luncheon! Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen. We all had a great time.

Today is Reptile Awareness Day! Here at Autumn Pointe we are lucky to have a connection to the reptile kingdom. Our own Maintenance Supervisor, Rob and his fiancé Kendra raise a breed these cold blooded creatures. They take them to different reptile expos in the Midwest, and today they held a mini expo for our residents and staff. Some really loved the reptiles while others weren't quite sure about them. Rob and Kendra brought in today ball pythons, boa constrictor, leopard geckos, bearded dragons, Aussie water dragon, Aussie Frilled dragon and an Argentine black and white tegu. The black and white tegu is named Mack, and we were told he is like a puppy and and so loving and cuddly. He is Kendra's baby. Mack is about to take his winter nap where he'll sleep from November to straight into March without eating. We learned that for most snakes that it takes about 4 months to babies to arrive, whether its pregnancy to live birth or carrying the eggs for 2 months and then incubating them for 2 months. These creatures eat a variety of things. The snakes eat mostly mice and some of the lizards eat insects while others eat raw meats and fruits. Residents and staff enjoyed learning about these reptiles. Be sure to look them up to learn more about them.
