Measles is a highly contagious viral illness, and cases are increasing again across the U.S. It spreads easily through coughing and close contact and can lead to serious complications, especially for children and those with weakened immune systems.

Vaccination is your best protection.
The MMR vaccine is safe, effective, and critical to keeping our community healthy.

What you can do:
-Check your vaccination status
-Ensure children are up to date on MMR
-Watch for symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, rash)
-Seek medical guidance if exposed or symptomatic

Need to get vaccinated or have questions?
Make an appointment or message your care team through the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal.

Stay informed. Stay protected. 💪

Taking the right precautions - Here are some essential tips to help you get through winter storms safely and be ready for any situation.

Before hitting the road:
• Fully winterize your vehicle and check fluids, wipers, and lights
• Keep your gas tank near full to prevent freezing
• Avoid traveling alone, and let someone know your route and timetable
• Call 511 for up-to-date road conditions

On the Road: Carry an Emergency Supply Kit
• Mobile phone & charger
• Blankets or sleeping bags, warm clothes, boots
• High-calorie, non-perishable food, water
• Flashlight & extra batteries
• Shovel, windshield scraper, and brush
• Sand or cat litter for traction
• Tool kit, jumper cables, and tow rope
• First Aid Kit
• Flares
• Spare tire

TAKE IT SLOW IN THE SNOW – Black ice can be hard to see, so drive as if you're on ice if temps are near freezing.

We are updating the way we announce emergencies overhead. Instead of color-coded “codes,” such as Code Yellow, you may now hear plain-language announcements that clearly describe what’s happening—like “Utility Outage – Internet.”

This change helps our teams respond faster and more safely, while also reducing confusion for patients and visitors who might overhear an announcement. If you hear one of these messages, patients and visitors should simply follow the instructions of staff members in their area. These announcements help our teams take safe, coordinated action when it matters most.

All Defense Health Agency (DHA) facilities are moving to the same plain-language emergency announcements, ensuring responses are clear, consistent, and standardized across the Military Health System.

Clear communication keeps everyone safer. Thank you for your patience as we make this important improvement.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to equality, service, and lifting others up. At BACH and across military medicine, we carry forward that legacy by serving all who need care, ensuring dignity, opportunity, and respect for every patient and team member. On this federal holiday, take a moment to reflect on his vision and consider how you can make a difference in your community and the lives of those around you.

Blood Assurance will be at BACH tomorrow from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. for a community blood drive. If you’re able, take a few minutes out of your day to make a lifesaving donation.

Every pint helps support local patients, military families, and our surrounding communities—and supplies often run low this time of year.

Roll up your sleeve, spread the word, and help keep our community strong. Your donation can save up to three lives.
