I had a fantastic time not only sharing some tried and true, research-based strategies for navigating a new way to do fitness in perimenopause and beyond, but also (hopefully) doing my part to reframe this powerful time of life this week with an amazing group of women. They came for some tips, but I hope they walked away with much more.
While I love to get into the research and data, it's so much more than that. Menopause is something that is the ultimate universal experience of the feminine. We can choose whether or not to become mothers, but this will happen to all of us, no matter what. So why do we demonize it? There is a lot to unpack here and certainly more than an Insta post will allow. I'd like to offer that it has a lot to do with our existence in a very masculine dominant society (we are just as guilty of this, ladies - this is NOT a dig at men!). This time of life allows us a very unique and much needed perspective and also the opportunity to deconstruct some patriarchal structures that exist within ourselves. So much more to say about this.....and I will.
I'm grateful for strong women who want to cut the bs and are willing to get honest. I 1000% believe we change the world by having more bad ass, wise women elders in it. That doesn't happen by accident. It's my passion to walk beside women taking on this rite of passage.
