In 2022, our waitlist for services topped 100 individuals. We believe no victim of child abuse should have to wait for help, so this has been a priority. We've seen success bringing in more grant dollars and donations, staging fantastic events, and working to build awareness of the work we do in northern Colorado. This has allowed us to hire staff and increase our capacity to help more survivors. Our waitlist now stands at 31.

We are so grateful for your support. Every gift, every grant award, and every event created to benefit ChildSafe has had a significant impact. These funds help children find their voices, help families access life-changing therapy that was previously out of financial reach, and help older adults receive treatment for long-past abuse that has impacted their lives negatively for years.

We need your help.

This year, ChildSafe will lose 10% of our operating budget due to deep federal cuts to the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA). That’s not just a number — it means fewer resources for children who have experienced the unimaginable.

VOCA funding helps provide the trauma-informed care, forensic interviews, crisis intervention, and advocacy that children and families rely on after abuse. Losing even a portion of that support has real consequences: longer wait times, overburdened staff, and fewer kids getting the help they need when they need it most.

We refuse to let these cuts silence the voices of children who deserve safety, healing, and justice. But we can’t do it alone.

Now more than ever, we need our community to stand with us. Your support can help bridge the gap — and ensure no child is turned away from the care they deserve.

When 9-year-old Mia first walked through ChildSafe’s doors, she was quiet, withdrawn, and carried a weight no child should ever have to bear. A concerned teacher had noticed bruises and sudden changes in Mia’s behavior. These signs led to a call to Child Protective Services and, ultimately, to us.

Mia’s first few visits to ChildSafe were cautious. Her eyes stayed down, and her words were few. But with time, patience, and the compassionate care of our therapy team, Mia began to share her story. She had been experiencing ongoing abuse by a trusted family member - someone who should have protected her.

When you give to ChildSafe, you give kids like Mia the gift of a second chance.

Teachers: You are on the front lines of child abuse!

Every day, you do more than teach — you notice, you listen, and you care. That makes you one of the most important protectors in a child’s life. šŸ’›

Children who are experiencing abuse at home often can’t say it out loud, but they may show signs, such as:
šŸ”¹ Sudden changes in behavior or academic performance
šŸ”¹ Reluctance to go home
šŸ”¹ Unexplained injuries or frequent absences
šŸ”¹ Excessive fearfulness or anxiety
šŸ”¹ Sexual themes in artwork, play, or behavior

If something feels off, trust your instincts and take action. Reporting your concerns could save a life.

At ChildSafe, we’re here to support you with training, resources, and trauma-informed tools. Together, we can be the safe adults kids need most. Learn more: https://www.childsafecolorado.org/

The devastating federal cuts to the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) mean vital services for child abuse victims are in jeopardy — including the healing, advocacy, and support that ChildSafe provides every single day.
