Taking care of yourself matters. As you think about this year, include yourself in your goals.

Self-care can be whatever works for you. A quiet walk. Setting a boundary. Having your morning coffee without interruptions. Taking a moment to breathe. What matters is choosing what feels right for you.

Start where you are. Pick what helps you most right now.

What does self-care look like for you today?

What an incredible time at the Thompson School District Future Freshmen Career Expos! πŸŽ“

We loved collaborating with the Work-Based Learning team to help students explore their futures. Incoming 9th graders got hands-on experience with Career & Technical Education (CTE) electives, connected with local businesses and colleges at a mini career fair, and discovered potential career paths, all just in time for class registration!

Huge thanks to the TSD Work-Based Learning team for creating opportunities that help students discover their passions, including careers in behavioral health. The future is bright!

The Board of Larimer County Commissioners today proclaimed February 2026 as Black History Month in Larimer County at their Administrative Matters meeting to honor the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black people to our nation, state, and country, and those experiences that have helped to shape Larimer County.

β€œI’m grateful we can do these kinds of proclamations, especially these days, to lift up a comprehensive view of history that’s inclusive of all of those who have contributed to getting our great nation to where we are today,” said Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas.

The 2026 Black History Month theme is β€œA Century of Black History Commemorations,” which honors 100 years of celebrating, studying, and preserving Black history, launched by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926.

β€œI think it’s really important now more than ever to have Black History Month and to reflect on this. It’s important to support folks in our community and their contributions throughout history. Black history is American history,” said Larimer County Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally.

February is Black History Month!

This month, we're shining a light on Black Trailblazers in Mental Health.

Meet Jacki McKinney, M.S.W. (1934 -2021) β€” survivor, advocate, and trailblazer. A founding member of the National People of Color Consumer/Survivor Network, Jacki dedicated her life to advocating for African American women, their children, and those navigating the mental health and criminal justice systems. Her impact earned her Mental Health America's Clifford W. Beers Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award from SAMHSA's Voice Awards.

Jacki paved the way for the work we do every day at SummitStone, providing compassionate, equitable mental health and substance use treatment for everyone in our community. Her legacy reminds us why that work matters.
