It’s hard to call ourselves *insert virtue* without having the opportunity to display said virtue

Bravery isn’t the absence of fear, but action taken in the face of it

So it goes with all the rest of them

I pray you seize those opportunities to become that version of you

Fun fact I almost went to culinary school

I’ve always loved to cook, I’ve been cooking for the better part of half my life

In high school me and two of my buddies actually had a competition cooking team in FCCLA

We would practice, knew all the fancy words, wore the whole chef getup (hats and all) and actually took second at the state FCCLA cooking competition 😂

Bonus points if you know what “Mise en place” means, comment your guesses ✌️❤️

I’m reading an amazing book right now by Cal Newport called Deep Work

And the point I want to make is an intersection of ideas between Atomic Habits and Deep Work 💨

And that point is this:

Life is full of urgent important and urgent and unimportant things 🚮

And these things battle for our attention

For our energy

For our priorities

And they usually win 🥇

Which means something else loses

And that thing that loses is your future

Your future health

Future relationships

Future income

Future faith

We sell out our future for what’s winning over our attention every day in the urgent

1 Peter 5: 8-9 says:

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”

Ha! Told ya it’s cliche

But it’s also true

So find the long term game you can play

With long term people

With patience, focused on what’s in front of you

And you’ll be unstoppable, because it won’t matter how long it takes

You win when you stop paying attention to the time

God tells us to pay attention to the game we are playing….

What are you really being a part of? Because it isn’t nothing

Every little part of every little decision, or every little day, of every little thing that happens to you is a note in the symphony of your existence

Are you paying attention?

Are you listening to that symphony?

I hope you chose to wade into the deep dark waters of your potential

I hope you do something that scares you half to death

That you blow your own mind

That you change your family history

That you say “2026 everything changed”

I hope you see yourself through the eyes of your creator, in all your wonderful imperfect uniqueness

Spill the TEA -

Can you believe it? The last week of July is already here. 😳 School starts next month for most of the kiddos, and summer’s wrapping up fast. INSANE. I’m just grateful fishing season runs into November so I don’t spiral into seasonal sadness too hard 😂 Praise the Lord for that.

PCOS….

Menopause….

None of those issues…..

Thyroid problems……

Cortisol…..

Guess what…..

Eating less is how they lost weight…..
