Today we are highlighting our wonderful OT, Liz Ampe! Here are some fun facts about Liz!

🔹Where did you go to OT school?
CSU

🔸How long have you been working as an occupational therapist?
20 years

🔹How long have you been working with My Heroes?
13 years

🔸What does being an occupational therapist mean to you?
I get to individualize each session to what is meaningful to that particular client. Incorporating a horse is internally motivating and a great way of building trust and relationships while incorporating regulating movement.

🔹Favorite horse to work with?
All the cute shorter ones, due to my height

🔸How do you describe occupational therapy to those who don’t know what it is?
OT has a lot of components you can address so it’s hard to capture everything in a brief description. It looks different for everyone but it is fostering independence in an individual’s daily life. For a child, it may be focusing on play based skills and for an adult more activities of daily living and self care. It’s the things you have to do on a daily basis plus the meaningful ones that bring you joy.

🔹Why did you want to become an occupational therapist?
I liked the variety of skills to address as well as work in various settings.

🔸If you could have any super power what super power would you choose?
I would love to teleport because I enjoy traveling and would get to see my distant friends and family on demand.

✨Did you know April is OT month?!✨

Occupational therapy is about so much more than helping people re-learn daily activities during recovery. It’s about empowering clients to regain independence, rediscover purpose, and find meaning in their lives.

Our Occupational Therapists do truly incredible work every day, and we want to highlight and celebrate them with the whole world—so everyone can see just how amazing occupational therapy is and the dedicated therapists who make such a difference.

Today we are highlighting our lovely Occupational Therapist Emma Mcdonald. Here are some fun facts about Emma!

About a year and a half. I joined My Heroes at TGEC August of 2024.

Occupational therapy feels like more than a profession. I love connecting, empowering and engaging with each unique family. I’m very lucky to love and feel fulfilled by my work!

All the horses in our herd are incredible, and each serve a different purpose for our riders. However, I do have a soft spot for Hot Rod and Leia.

I help support others to participate and engage in what is meaningful and important to them.
