Most amateur golfers don’t get hurt because they’re playing too much…
They get hurt because they’re building on a bad foundation ⛳️
Here’s what usually happens 👇
Limited mobility (hips, T-spine, shoulders)
→ You can’t get into the positions the swing demands
→ You compensate to make it work
Now take that same body into the gym…
👉 You squat, deadlift, press, rotate
👉 But you’re doing it with those same compensations
👉 Then you add load on top of it
That’s where things start to break down:
❌ More stress through the low back instead of hips
❌ More strain on shoulders instead of thoracic rotation
❌ Poor force transfer → less power, more wear and tear
❌ Pain that shows up mid-season when volume increases
So when golf season ramps up, you’ve got:
➡️ High swing volume + poor movement + added gym stress = perfect storm for injury
And here’s the truth most people miss…
Strength isn’t the problem. Lessons aren’t the problem.
The problem is skipping the step that makes both of those effective.
You need to understand how your body moves before you: ✔️ Load it in the gym
✔️ Try to change your swing
That’s where a proper movement screen comes in.
At Elevate Sport & Spine Center, we identify: 👉 Mobility restrictions
👉 Stability/control issues
👉 Compensation patterns
So you can: ✔️ Train with intent
✔️ Take lessons that actually stick
✔️ Build power without breaking down
Because the goal isn’t just to play more golf…
It’s to play better and stay healthy doing it.
