I'm beginning to see what Bruce Perry meant when he said that the amount of trauma in your life is less important than the amount of supportive relationships you have. I've had several clients in the last few weeks rate higher disturbance recalling a parent's unsupportive reaction to s*x abuse than the actual act of abuse.
