Speech & Language Stimulation Center has been serving Fort Collins since 1981 and provides speech therapy to patients of any age that are seeking to improve their quality of life. Specializing in Autism disorders, Social Thinking, dysphagia, articulation, cognitive and language disorders related to neurological impairments or injury, VCD, voice dysfunction, and early intervention.

May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month! To help build awareness for adults with communication disorders, ASHA posted the results of a poll about the impact on their lives.

An important excerpt:

"It is most fitting that we spotlight stigmas associated with communication disorders for National Speech-Language-Hearing Month,” said ASHA President Tena L. McNamara, AuD, CCC-A/SLP. “Stigmas are completely unacceptable and generally the result of misinformation and misunderstanding. By listening and learning more, and challenging stereotypes, all of us can help create a more inclusive environment that elevates the quality of life for people with communication difficulties. According to the people we polled, giving them adequate time to communicate and not making assumptions about them—small but effective steps—would stand to improve their lives significantly.”

What do you love most about your job? I love meeting and working with a variety of people and watching their confidence grow as they become more confident communicators. I also love the process of tailoring therapy to my clients to help them feel truly successful!

What are your favorite hobbies? I love painting, antiquing, home decorating, and re-watching favorite movies.

What is your dream vacation? Traveling around Europe to sight see, visit museums to appreciate all the great art, and eat the delicious food.

What do you love most about your job? I love the diversity of my clientele, and that I get to work on so many different things which help people communicate and be more engaged with their community.
