NBC News just today published an article: “6 Best KN95 masks and Where to Buy Them”.
The article, although promoting KN95 masks, substantiates basically everything I’ve said in my last post about why we don’t ever sell KN95 masks. The one exception is that they claim that the Chinese standard is similar to the American NIOSH standard. At least they go on to admit in the article that the N95 is ‘the gold standard’.
I disagree with that claim but even if true, they then go to admit that there are many counterfeit KN95’s in the market and there is no way for a consumer to tell the difference. This is very true.
The best part is that the article then lists the 5 best KN95’s to purchase online, giving out the website and prices. And yes EVERY ONE of these sites sell the KN95 for a higher price than we sell the American made, NIOSH approved, N95 masks.
Here’s an excerpt from the article but I’ll also leave the link below:
“There has been an overwhelming need of N95 masks for healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic. N95 masks are considered the “gold standard” face mask, according to Friese, since they’re NIOSH-approved respirators.
The heightened demand led to a shortage of N95 masks early on during the pandemic. To help solve this problem, the Food and Drug Administration issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for KN95 masks that are manufactured in China but are not NIOSH-approved. According to Shapiro, the FDA released documentation that KN95 masks made by certain manufacturers in China are deemed effective for protection.”
