We are unconditionally committed to providing you with the very best medical care in a gentle, compassionate, and highly effective manner. We have created a setting that is healing, comfortable, and safe. Our goal is to guide patients to their full health potential. We have intentionally placed a limit on the number of patients we see in a day in order to give each patient quality time, without wasting your time in the waiting room. It’s of utmost importance to us to be able to spend enough time with each patient so we can make an accurate diagnosis and devise an individualized treatment plan that can effectively and rapidly bring each patient back to health. We also allow enough time to be able to address any concerns and answer any questions that you may have. A substantial number of the cases we treat in the clinic are patients with chronic and sometimes disabling problems that have not been resolved by conventional medical care.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jing is translated as the body's Essence. ✨ This substance is stored in the Kidneys and is the foundation of growth, development, reproduction, vitality, and longevity. ❤ Along with Qi (energy) and Shen (spirit), Jing is considered one of the Three Treasures of life.

Jing is inherited at birth and gradually used throughout life, but it can also be preserved through lifestyle choices like proper rest, nourishing foods, gentle exercise, and stress management.

Winter is an important season to conserve Jing, reflecting the natural rhythm of slowing down and storing energy for the months ahead. ❄️

Did you know that Dr. Dayna Larson offers a special type of TCM-based bodywork called Tuina (pronounced "twee-nah")?

Tuina is a form of Chinese medical massage that uses specific manual techniques like kneading, pressing, rolling, and gentle joint mobilization to balance the body's Qi and meridians. It can treat:

💚 musculoskeletal pain
💚 joint stiffness and sports injuries
💚 stress and tension
💚 some internal imbalances

These 30 or 60 minute appointments are scheduled by phone or in person only. Give us a call if you’d like to learn more or book a session!

February marks both Heart Health Month and Cancer Prevention Month — two reminders that preventing illness is always better than treating it later. 💚

Over 2,000 years ago, the Huangdi Neijing taught:

“Superior doctors prevent disease before it arises; mediocre doctors treat disease as it’s forming; inferior doctors treat disease once it has already manifested.”

This ancient wisdom still holds true today. 👩‍⚕️ Heart disease remains the leading cause of death, and cancer is a close second. What’s important (and hopeful) is that research consistently shows a significant portion of cardiovascular disease as well as many cancers are linked to modifiable lifestyle factors, such as:

🥗 Diet
🚴 Movement
🧘‍♀️ Stress management
😴 Sleep
🚭 To***co and alcohol use

While not all disease is preventable — genetics, environment, and even chance all play a role — supporting the body’s balance and resilience can meaningfully reduce risk and improve long-term health outcomes.

🔥 Ancient therapy, modern healing 🔥

Fire cupping is a traditional technique used in Chinese medicine to promote circulation, release tension, and support the body’s natural healing processes. By creating gentle suction, cupping helps move stagnant blood and qi, often leaving people feeling lighter and more relaxed afterward.

Our practitioners integrate cupping thoughtfully for pain, stress, recovery, and overall wellness. Your treatments are always tailored to your unique needs.

Curious if cupping could be supportive for you? We’re happy to help you explore your options.

Fresh ginger is one of the most commonly used herbs in Chinese medicine—and for good reason. Warm, pungent, and aromatic, Sheng Jiang is known for its ability to:

✨ Warm the digestive system
✨ Relieve nausea and bloating
✨ Support circulation
✨ Help the body release early-stage colds
✨ Reduce toxicity and harmonize formulas

In daily life, fresh ginger tea or cooking with ginger can be a simple way to support digestion and warmth, especially during colder months or when digestion feels sluggish.

☯️ Today is Opposite Day! So let’s talk Yin & Yang ☯️

In Chinese medicine, Yin and Yang are the ultimate opposites, but they’re also inseparable. Health, nature, and life itself exist in the dynamic relationship between these two forces. Here are the five core principles of Yin & Yang theory:

1️⃣ Opposition
Yin and Yang are polar opposites. Think dark/light, cold/hot, passive/active, feminine/masculine. They restrain and balance one another, and while distinct, neither can exist alone.

2️⃣ Interdependence
There is no Yin without Yang, and no Yang without Yin. Just like you can’t have “up” without “down,” each defines and supports the other.

3️⃣ Inter-consumption (Dynamic Balance)
Yin and Yang are always shifting. As one increases, the other decreases. When this balance is disrupted (too much or too little) imbalance and illness can arise.

4️⃣ Inter-transformation
Under certain conditions, Yin can become Yang, and Yang can become Yin, just like day turning into night, or winter giving way to spring.

5️⃣ Relative Unity / Infinite Divisibility
Everything contains both Yin and Yang, and each can be endlessly divided into smaller expressions of the two.

Opposites aren’t meant to compete, they’re meant to dance. And when they do, balance follows.

Winter is the season to nourish from the inside out. 🥣

And who doesn’t love a bowl of comfort! Soups, stews, and congee are warming and easy to digest, making it easier for your body to restore energy during the cold months.

Choosing warm, cooked foods is a simple way to eat intentionally and care for yourself this winter. Bonus points for ingredients like sesame seeds, black beans, and seaweed, which are traditionally associated with supporting Kidney health..

These cups are used for cupping therapy, a decompression technique in Chinese medicine that helps improve circulation, ease muscle tension, and support the body’s natural healing response. Traditionally, glass cups and a flame are used to create suction, but this set uses plastic cups with a pump to remove the air.

During winter, cupping can be especially helpful for stiffness, aches, and that heavy, “stuck” feeling that often comes with cold and stress.

January sits in the heart of Winter — the most yin season of the year.
In Chinese medicine, this is not a time to push or “hit the ground running.” It’s a time to protect your reserves.

The natural world pulls inward right now. When we honor that rhythm with more rest, warmth, and simplicity, we support our deepest vitality for the year ahead.

It’s been almost two weeks since we officially entered into the winter season. In TCM, winter is governed by the Water element, which is associated with the Kidneys, our deepest source of vitality the root of all Yin and Yang within the body.

As the days slowly lengthen, let us remember to slow down and nourish ourselves this season. ❄️

This year we decided to do something different for our annual holiday party- a paint and sip at Pinot’s Palette in Old Town Fort Collins! 🎨

Spending time together outside of the clinic is always a meaningful reminder of the relationships behind the care we provide. It was a fun, creative way to relax, connect, and celebrate the season as a team. 🥰

And judging by these paintings, we may have a few hidden artists among us!
