Every month we recognize an employee who has demonstrated extraordinary performance. One of our recent honorees was Colleen Hansen, who is an Outpatient Counselor at our Fort Dodge office! We appreciate the many ways that Colleen goes above and beyond to not only provide exceptional care for our outpatient clients, but also stepping up to help when needs arise in our residential programs!

Our Iowa City-based Nurse Practitioner, Rosemary, is welcoming new clients for psychiatric/medication management services both in person and via telehealth! Rosemary works together with her clients, offering clear, evidence-based education on mental health concerns. Her empathy and understanding of everyday challenges ensure that no one feels weighed down by their mental health journey alone. Warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental, Rosemary creates a space where her clients know they’re truly supported.

"It's not about which language is universally "right" or "wrong." It's about understanding that different people need different things. Some people need the clarity and community of a label. Others need the spaciousness and hope of person-first language. Some people will shift between these approaches at different points in their recovery journey."

Labels are discouraged in SMART Recovery, but there are certain reasons why others may embrace them.
