I cannot say it enough how much I love this group of women ❤️

They are such a huge blessing to me! They have taken a chance with me, grown with me, struggled with me, celebrated with me and they are the heart of The Therapy House.

This season I am so thankful for them and for all the families that trust us with their most precious kiddos. We love what we do and love that you share your life with us!

Executive Functioning Skills: The Secret Behind Independence

Ever wonder why your child forgets their backpack, rushes through homework, or struggles with multi-step directions? 🤔

That’s executive functioning at work—or sometimes, under construction! ⚒️

These brain-based skills help kids plan, organize, self-monitor, and control impulses—but here’s the key:
🧠 The part of the brain responsible for executive functioning (the prefrontal cortex) isn’t fully developed until the mid-20s!

That means kids aren’t “lazy” or “forgetful”—their brains are still learning how to manage all those moving parts.

The good news? Executive skills can be strengthened through structured play, visual supports, and practice—just like muscles! 💪

At The Therapy House, we build these skills through playful, purposeful activities and our Skill Builder Packs, which target planning, sequencing, and organization in fun, meaningful ways.

🌟 Therapy isn’t just about “catching up.” It’s about giving kids tools that last a lifetime.

Understanding Sensory Processing: It’s Not “Bad Behavior”

😣 Meltdowns in the grocery store… covering ears at loud assemblies… spinning in circles during circle time—these are often signs of sensory overload or sensory seeking, not misbehavior.

At The Therapy House, we help kids learn how to regulate their sensory systems so they can focus, play, and participate more successfully.

💡 Curious what other signs look like behavior but might be sensory related? Comment Sensory below and I’ll send you my free guide!

➡️ Sensory Play Spotlight: The Power of Play-Doh

🌀 Did you know squishing, rolling, and cutting Play-Doh isn’t just play—it’s building hand strength, finger coordination, and emotional regulation? These are all skills needed BEFORE kids start handwriting!

✨ We’re so excited to introduce our new Skill Builder Packs—themed printable activities designed to strengthen foundational skills kids need for school success. Each pack includes hands-on activities, visual-motor challenges, and even Play-Doh mats to make therapy-style learning easy to bring home or into the classroom!

📒Ask us about how to grab yours or add them to your homeschool or classroom centers!

Back-to-School Wins
✨ “This time of year, we’re celebrating big wins—like kids mastering morning routines, tying their shoes independently, or walking confidently into school! Every milestone matters, and we love helping families make these moments happen through fun, child-led therapy. 💚

➡️ Tell us in the comments: what small win has your child had this week?
