Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Induction Ceremony:
CPL Esteban E. Chung Zheng, CPL Hunter S. Erickson, SGT Brenna A. Halverson, SGT Christopher K. Huntington, SGT Anissa M. Seese, SGT William F. Tollett III were inducted into the Noncommissioned Officer corps during a ceremony here at Waybur Theater, February 26. The Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Induction Ceremony is a time-honored military tradition marking the transition of newly promoted soldiers into the NCO Corps, celebrating their shift from followers to leaders. It emphasizes responsibility, accountability, and the heritage of the "backbone of the Army" through the ceremony pictured here.

The celebration of George Washington's birthday dates back to before he was president. Even during the Revolutionary War, the anniversary of his birth was commemorated. The first federal holiday honoring an individual's birth date was Washington's Birthday, established by Congress in 1885 to be observed on his actual birthday, February 22. Later, the Uniform Monday Holiday Act of 1968 shifted the observance to the third Monday in February. This change, which took effect in 1971, also led to the popular "Presidents' Day" name, as the holiday now falls between the birthdays of Washington (February 22) and Abraham Lincoln (February 12). Although Congress has never officially changed the name of the holiday, it is widely used.
