These long winter months can be especially tough for those living in areas where daylight is at a minimum. Reduced sunlight can disrupt the body’s internal clock, melatonin levels, and drop serotonin levels, which are responsible for sleep patterns and mood.

Winter blues, which is different from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), can typically be treated with light therapy (phototherapy), but for more severe cases, psychotherapy and medications may be a better option.
