Adam Bator Yoga & Corrective Exercise

Adam Bator Yoga & Corrective Exercise Certified Yoga Teacher & Corrective Exercise Specialist After exhausting all conventional resources, Adam found One Human Performance Center in Pine Brook, NJ.

Adam is a Certified Yoga Teacher, an NASM Certified Personal Trainer, an NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist and a Functional Movement Screen Certified Specialist. It was his own chronic back pain at age 20 that lead Adam to explore what it would take to heal his back. The founder, Eric D’Agati, worked with Adam, focusing on corrective exercise and pain management. The relief Adam felt was suprisingly quick and it sparked a passion within him to help others. Adam enrolled in the National Academy of Sports Medicine and was certified as a personal trainer. He continued his education as a trainer at the One Human Performance Center

After just one Yoga class with Isaac Pena at Sankalpah Yoga, Adam realized the benefits of incorporating Yoga into exercise routines. Adam enrolled in Teacher Training with the Sankalpah College of Yoga in New York City, where he earned his Yoga teacher certification and has been teaching Yoga ever since. Adam instructs a free-style type of Vinyasa Flow creating physically and mentally challenging routines that flow smoothly from one asana to the next. His hands-on approach and unpredictable routines promote students to simultaneously focus on form, breath, and endurance, resulting in classes that help create a calming and meditative effect for the mind and body.

"All I’m saying is that to liberate the potential of your mind, body and soul, you must first expand your imagination. You see, things are always created twice: first in the workshop of the mind and then, and only then, in reality. I call this process ‘blueprinting’ because anything you create in your outer world began as a simple blueprint in your inner world.” ~ Robin Sharma

Practicing yoga regularly keeps muscles supple, prepares us for movement, and helps us break the daily routine of a sedentary life. "One of the means of honoring the sun is through the dynamic asana sequence Surya Namaskar (better known as Sun Salutation). The Sanskrit word namaskar stems from namas, which means “to bow to” or “to adore.” (The familiar phrase we use to close our yoga classes, namaste—te means “you”—also comes from this root.) Each Sun Salutation begins and ends with the joined-hands mudra (gesture) touched to the heart. This placement is no accident; only the heart can know the truth.

The ancient yogis taught that each of us replicates the world at large, embodying “rivers, seas, mountains, fields…stars and planets…the sun and moon” (Shiva Samhita, II.1-3). The outer sun, they asserted, is in reality a token of our own “inner sun,” which corresponds to our subtle, or spiritual, heart. Here is the seat of consciousness and higher wisdom (jnana) and, in some traditions, the domicile of the embodied self (jivatman)."

"...lower back strains were the most common single diagnosis reported in the data for ER visits relating to yoga for 2010 (from the NEISS report). In fact, back strains are also a common workplace injury and much research is focused on the prevention thereof. Nevertheless, people still often strain their back at work, especially during situations in which they forget or are unable to implement preventative measures."

Thank you so much for this post and all of your wonderful posts. Your illustrations with the arrows and your precise explanations and instructions are so useful. I can hardly wait for "Part 2 of preventative strategies for lower back strains in yoga" next week. Thank you for sending out all of your…
