We are thrilled to congratulate our founder and fearless leader, Dr. Gabriel Valle, on being named a 2026 Twelve Good Men Honoree by Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida.

For more than 30 years, the Twelve Good Men Luncheon has recognized leaders whose dedication to service, philanthropy, and community impact strengthens South Florida. The event serves as the premier annual fundraiser supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides a true “home away from home” for families whose children are hospitalized and receiving critical medical care.

Located on the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Medical Campus, the House allows families to stay just steps away while their children undergo treatment. During a child’s hospitalization, Ronald McDonald House provides lodging, meals, support services, and welcoming spaces where families can rest, stay together, and support one another.

Dr. Valle has always believed that medicine is a calling to care for people wholeheartedly. His career reflects compassion, trust, and a lifelong commitment to his patients and to the South Florida community.

Honoring leaders through the Twelve Good Men Award inspires others to give back and invest in causes that truly matter. Science saves lives, but compassion sustains them — and that is exactly what Ronald McDonald House Charities represents.

A year ago he was preparing for dialysis.
Five months after a kidney transplant, he was holding the Lombardi Trophy with his son, Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald. 🏈

Hugh Macdonald, an Army veteran with kidney disease from long-standing hypertension, received a life changing living donor kidney from Nurse Samantha Harris, a member of his church community. Recovery was strong. Energy returned. Life reopened. And weeks later he was in the stands watching his son coach the Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory.

One nurse said yes to living donation and a father got to witness one of the biggest moments of his family’s life.

Kidney disease often hides in plain sight, especially in people with high blood pressure. Screening matters. Early referral matters. Living donation saves lives and restores moments that would otherwise be lost.

This is what transplant makes possible.
This is what one donor can change.
This is why awareness matters long before someone reaches dialysis.

Every Super Bowl has a champion.

Los doctores Gabriel Valle y Carlos Bejar se enorgullecen en dar la bienvenida a un nuevo médico a The Kidney and Hypertension Group, el Dr. Manuel Santos.
El Dr. Santos nació y creció en Puerto Rico, donde también completó la escuela de medicina. Posteriormente realizó su residencia en Medicina Interna en Mount Sinai Beth Israel en la ciudad de Nueva York, seguida de su entrenamiento en Nefrología en Cleveland Clinic Florida, donde se desempeñó como Jefe de Fellows de Nefrología. Además, completó un año adicional de entrenamiento avanzado en enfermedades glomerulares, un área que continúa siendo una de sus principales pasiones.
Sus intereses clínicos incluyen las enfermedades glomerulares, la lesión renal aguda, la Nefrología en cuidados críticos, la diálisis en el hogar, el trasplante renal y la hipertensión refractaria. El Dr. Santos está certificado por la junta en Medicina Interna y Nefrología.
El Dr. Santos atenderá pacientes en nuestras oficinas de Fort Lauderdale y Plantation. Exciting development.

Big news in kidney innovation. The FDA has granted Breakthrough Device Designation to the Holly™ system, an implantable, continuous dialysis device designed to work inside the body and function more like a natural kidney.
Developed by Nephrodite, Holly aims to free patients with end stage kidney disease from the limits of center based dialysis by continuously filtering waste, balancing fluids, and managing electrolytes. Early multi day animal studies showed strong safety and performance, helping fast track this technology toward first in human trials.
Important to note this is an investigational device and is not yet FDA approved for commercial use. Still, it represents an exciting and hopeful step toward improving quality of life for people living with kidney failure.

¿Qué estará haciendo el Dr. Valle aquí?

Este fin de semana, la National Kidney Foundation of Florida celebró su reunión trimestral en Jensen Beach — y nuestro presidente del Consejo Médico Asesor, el Dr. Gabriel Valle, estuvo al frente de todas las novedades.

Entre los emocionantes proyectos discutidos se encuentran SurfFest en Cocoa Beach el próximo fin de semana, la Caminata por el Riñón de Fort Lauderdale el 15 de noviembre en Central Park, Plantation, y la puesta en marcha de nuestra Iniciativa de Atención Primaria, dirigida por el Dr. Ryan Kissane de Orlando. También esperamos con entusiasmo nuestro Simposio Médico y la Gala del Riñón, ambos programados para inicios de 2026.

Pero uno de los momentos más fascinantes fue cuando los miembros de la junta probaron visores de realidad virtual diseñados para pacientes en hemodiálisis — ofreciendo viajes inmersivos a lugares exóticos y paisajes impresionantes alrededor del mundo.

En la National Kidney Foundation of Florida, la innovación y la compasión van de la mano. Juntos, estamos reimaginando la experiencia del paciente — un avance a la vez.
