Pemf is amazing, but it also is not a one and done!
It takes time and patience.. If you want instant, surgery is the only thing for that. No matter what you have to follow the course to see results!
Tuesday AM musings...
When you get an injury and your doctor refers you to PT, do you only go once? And then complain "well, I didn't like it and I still have the injury, so I'm never going again."
No. You stick with the program. You go multiple times. You make it a priority so you can heal faster with less long term repercussions.
If your horse hurts himself, and your vet recommends shockwave, do you do it once and say, "well, I didn't see any progress with that one session so I won't do anymore."
No. You stick with the program your vet recommends and do multiple sessions. Even maybe multiple rounds! *cough* jack *cough* (I think we did 3 rounds of 3 sessions each? Whatever my vet said to try we did. Without question.)
So why would you treat PEMF the same? It works at a cellular level. Some people/horses may feel relief after just one session, yes. One session is perfect before a show or as general maintenance for muscle relief. (Still on some sort of a schedule.) But if you are trying to HELP them RECOVER from an injury, it HAS to be done multiple times. Not just a one and done. Each session builds on the next. You will not see lasting results just doing it once. For injuries of any sort, I recommend 3 days a week for best results. Over time with the vets recommendations, we can drop down. But just like supplements and some meds, you need a "loading dose" of PEMF for it to most effectively do its job.
No, this does not mean your one session a month is useless!!!! If your horse is otherwise healthy and just needs some support, monthly is wonderful and your horse will thank you. The 3 day a week is for injuries.
Utilize your vets resources and connections and always take their advice. They generally (100%) know what they are talking about and don't recommend people they don't trust ;)
