WARNING -Due to International tensions, we must STAY ALERT.
Security experts warn Americans to prepare now for an incoming cyber-attack and take the appropriate steps today.
Experts have framed the issue in simple, practical terms.
A cyber attack, he said, would not just be some abstract government problem playing out on a screen somewhere. It could affect lights, internet service, electricity, water supply, transportation, banking, and payment systems. Prepare now.

As a university professor and field educator, I firmly believe that mentoring is an invaluable investment. There is no greater joy than having a former student return to express their gratitude for the positive impact I had on their personal and professional life.

We had the privilege of attending Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast-Lee County’s inspiring event, "A Toast to Potential – Light the Path."

Mentoring is a powerful tool for helping children and youth develop the skills necessary to lead productive lives.

Our emcee for the evening was Amanda Hall of Wink News, and the live auction successfully raised funds to support the continuation of this vital program.

It was a truly special evening, honoring the tireless efforts of individuals who support this critical work in Southwest Florida!

It was a truly special evening, honoring the tireless efforts of individuals who support this critical work in Southwest Florida, including Ryan David, President of Scotlynn, John Slavik, Senior Vice President & Regional Retail Executive of Fifth Third Bank, and Mark Loren, Owner of Mark Loren Designs.

We had the pleasure of meeting many remarkable individuals with big hearts, including Jeanne Sweeney, CEO of Above Board Chamber, Andrew and Merry Coffman, and numerous others.

MARCH IS SOCIAL WORK MONTH - Social workers unite, celebrate, and activate!
Across the country, more than 810,000 social workers serve on the front lines, helping individuals and communities overcome personal and societal challenges so they can heal, grow, and thrive. As one of the fastest-growing professions in the United States, social work spans every sector of society—from supporting veterans, students, and families in child welfare and foster care, to providing mental and health care services and shaping policy at local, state, and federal levels. No matter the setting or political climate, social workers are uniquely skilled at bringing people together, finding common ground, and advancing the well-being of all.

Where is the tolerance? Where is civic dialogue?

So how do social workers stay centered, keep the dialogue moving, and help people feel heard when viewpoints clash?
In this session, NASW President Dr. Yvonne Chase, PhD, LCSW, ACSW offers a thoughtful—and timely—look at how social workers can strengthen connection, listen across differences, and support respectful engagement, even when the moment feels tough.

Social workers are often called into conversations where tensions run high and trust feels fragile. How do we stay grounded, foster understanding, and help m...

MEASLES UPDATE!

Information available in English, Spanish and Creole!

Due to the recent increase in measles cases, the Florida Department of Health is emphasizing the importance of identifying suspected cases quickly and taking steps to minimize further transmission. Please review the current guidance on this highly infectious disease.

FDOH will be providing MMR Immunizations at no cost to all residents during this time.
Measles is spread through the air by breathing, coughing, or sneezing. It can be transmitted four days before the rash becomes visible to four days after the rash appears. The symptoms of measles generally begin approximately 8-14 days after exposure to someone with measles, with a range of 7-21 days.
Symptoms include:
• Fever
• Cough
• Coryza (Runny nose)
• Conjunctivitis (Red, watery eyes)
• Malaise
Typically followed in 3-5 days by:
•Generalized descending maculopapular rash
• Tiny white spots with bluish-white centers found inside the mouth (Koplik's spots)

Providers should consider measles when a patient presents with a generalized, maculopapular rash lasting longer than 3 days, a temperature greater than 101.0°F (38.3°C), and cough, coryza, and/or conjunctivitis. Expedite patients to a private room to minimize exposure.

Contact your county health department immediately (24/7) upon suspicion of measles, as they can provide additional support and guidance. Individuals should not abruptly visit a health care provider without contacting them ahead of time.
