Last month, the Skilled Nursing Unit at Gulf Coast Medical Center participated in specialized training on Evacusleds, emergency evacuation devices made possible through funding from Team Member Giving. These devices allow medical staff to safely transport patients from the Skilled Nursing Unit in the event of an emergency, helping ensure continuity of care when it matters most.

Lee Health team members can apply for Team Member Giving funding to support training, professional certifications, and medical equipment that enhance patient care across our health system.

Some moments define a year.

For Toni Primeaux, director of development, one of 2025’s most meaningful moments was celebrating Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida being recognized with the Hospital Impact Award by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Chosen from more than 170 children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada, this honor reflects the collective passion, philanthropy, and unwavering commitment to children and families in our community.

A moment that mattered. A milestone that will shape care for years to come.

The Forest Country Club recently hosted a members-only event featuring American author, sports journalist, and talk show host Mitch Albom. Guests enjoyed a powerful motivational talk while coming together to support the future of care at Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.

Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, $29,000 was raised to benefit pediatric neurosurgery at Golisano Children's Hospital, helping provide hope, healing, and advanced care for our youngest patients.

We are grateful to The Forest Country Club and their members for making moments like this possible.

Some moments stay with you forever.

For Krystal Velazquez, associate director of development, one moment this year meant everything. She took her husband’s baseball-loving grandma to a game at Lee Health Sports Complex and helped her step out of the house for the first time since losing her husband of more than 50 years.

It was an outing filled with joy, connection, and a chance to bring a little light back into her days.

These are the moments that remind us why our work matters and how meaningful experiences can bring comfort, healing, and hope beyond the everyday.

After more than eight years leading Lee Health as President & CEO, Dr. Larry Antonucci has announced that he will not be renewing his contract following September 30, 2026.

“Serving this health system and our community has been the greatest privilege of my career,” said Dr. Antonucci. “I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together—our focus on quality, safety, and compassion has never been stronger and Lee Health’s future is bright.”

Dr. Antonucci has been a role model, public figure, and helping hand to the Southwest Florida community for decades, and we can’t thank him enough for the impact he’s made on so many lives. He will continue to lead the health system over the next year as Lee Health remains the system of choice for our community, advances its strategic priorities, and prepares for a smooth, well-planned leadership transition.

We’re grateful for everyone who helps make the holidays brighter for kids at Golisano Children’s Hospital, including our friends at B&I Contractors, Inc, who recently dropped off toys from their annual toy drive!💙

Snow Pile is also officially back at Golisano! Each year, the Child Life team transforms a conference room into Santa’s Workshop, where parents of inpatient children can “shop” for gifts at no cost, giving families one less worry during a difficult time.

At Lee Health Foundation, everything we do is powered by the people behind the mission. As we look back on the past year, our team reflected on the moments that truly made a difference for our patients and our Southwest Florida community.

For Kristen Pannone, associate director of grants, one moment rose to the top: “One of my favorite experiences this year was partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties to help raise the walls of a new home in Cape Coral for a deserving family. Giving back to the community we serve is a true privilege!”

Kristen’s story is just one example of the meaningful impact our team strives to make every day. As we head into a new year, we’re excited to continue creating more moments that matter for patients, families, and our community!

Holiday magic filled Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida this weekend at the Porsche & Friends Parade!

195 Porsches and exotic cars paraded through Fort Myers, raising $469,800 to support the Golisano Children’s Hospital Surgery Center. The best part of the day was seeing the community come together to support our patients and the Surgery Center.

From JP and Val Petracco to our sponsors, volunteers, the Iona McGregor Fire District , and the Lee County Sheriff's Office, it truly takes a village. Firefighters and SWAT team members rappelling down the hospital walls was just the cherry on top, bringing extra joy to kids and families.

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible. Your generosity creates smiles today and helps build better care for tomorrow.

The 13th Annual Golisano Children’s Hospital Fashion Show was full of moments our team won’t forget! With the help of our community, we raised $113,905 for the SEA STAR Program at Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.

If you were in the room, you saw it. Kids stepping onto the stage with big smiles. Friends celebrating fashion-forward runway moments. A community that shows up for sensory-friendly care across Southwest Florida!

The SEA STAR Program helps kids with ASD, IDD, and sensory sensitivities feel safe and supported in clinical settings. Your support keeps that work moving forward.

At Lee Health Foundation, our team is inspired every day by the moments that matter both in our work and in our lives. For Alex Rivero, associate director of development, one moment this year captured the heart of why he does what he does.

As Alex shared:
"For me, it was being able to do meaningful work while spending time with my family. I love this picture. I took my son out on visits, and I remember a man named Tom Brady (not THAT Tom Brady 🏈) asking if he could pick my son up for a photo. Before I could say anything, my son said "yes!". It was a fun day out and a reminder of how special this work can be."

Alex’s experience reflects the balance of purpose, community, and family that drives our mission forward.

We are grateful for the people who make Lee Health Foundation what it is and for the moments that shape our year.

From four rooms and ten beds to more than 1,800 — our story began in 1916 when community members came together with just $300 and a dream to bring healthcare to Fort Myers.

Today, Lee Health has more than 2 million patient contacts every year — caring for our neighbors, friends, and families across Southwest Florida.

Because from the very beginning, this has always been about you.

Every moment of care, comfort, and recovery is made possible through community support. Your gift ensures we can keep delivering lifesaving care close to home for generations to come.

One moment can change everything.
