What a beautiful tribute to share this Thanksgiving week from one of our patients!
I just wanted to say thank you for not painting over Dick Martins “Labor of Love”.
I haven’t been to that office until I saw Dr. Martinez today and I was shocked to see that Dick‘s painting from when he was at the VA was still there on the wall.
1st photo: This is him in the wheelchair. I was his nurse for years! He passed away 10 years ago, but I’m going to share this with his family, that his work is still on display in your office. He lived another five years after I got him, but thank you for not covering up that beautiful wall mural he painted.
2nd photo: Here he is standing on the right before his health failed him, he used to get sad because I’d go in there and we’d sit for the VA for his appointment and his name would be hidden by the sign, so I always moved the sign so his name could be seen and it brought him lots of joy!
3rd photo: You all are amazing! Dr. Martinez saved Hall Tupler‘s life. The last picture he’s on the left. He was on hospice and he broke his hip. He was 89 pounds and Dr. Martinez said it’s his time to go to heaven and I begged him to fix his hip. I knew him very well because I took care of him for eight years and he lived many more years after the surgery. Thank you for all you do now I’m a patient of yours.
Michelle, thank you for sharing such a beautiful story and we hope this news brings his family joy. We honor this mural and all the heroes who have fought for our nation.
